its been over a week ... has not improved... feeling like i need to wipe the phone and restore.. Thats how bad it is
Coming frorn 26.0.1 this update feels much better on my Air! It’s flying, apps & content loading faster and generally more fluid.
iOS 26.0.1 almost feels unpolished now that we have 26.1
26.1 is the kind of update we should have expected in September...
Wow, everyone on here HAS said so for a long, long, time and over several versions of iOS and its betas. AND the thousand reviews on the MS store (below) should you give you a hint as well. (go read them) So 1000% on you for keeping to use it, not the "know-it-alls" here that have only attempted to help you over and over and over. Unbelievable
After only ~12 hours, I agree.
This one took much longer than usual to download and install, but my iPhone Pro 16 stayed room temperature during the installation process. That's not a complaint, but both were different than most .X updates I remember.
still getting the brightness bug - its always 50/50 when I raise to wake/tap the screen as to whether the screen will come on really dimmed or normal.
i've had the opposite issue previously. sometimes i'd turn the screen on and it would be at 100% brightness. adjusting the slider in control centre wouldn't do anything. i had to turn the screen off and on again.
since 26.1 the issue has gone.
Wait, Windows? Of course it's terrible, even iCloud is a disaster on that platform.
Use Apple Configurator on a Mac, or just do OTA like everyone else not managing multiple devices.
.......or Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows). So yeah there are plenty of other options from Apple that work great.

So far so good with 26.1 on iPhone 13 Pro Max, feels MUCH more stable on my end, I had some annoying lag, that seems to have cleared up right now.
Unlocking Face ID was my main issue, it very slow to unlock (many times it would kick me to the passcode instead) and would show the wallpaper for 1/2 - 3/4 of a second before the icons appeared, that thankfully is gone as of now.
Battery life/drain, I have a new Apple battery in this phone...it's MAYBE a tad better than 26.0.1 / 26.0. Not really seeing a huge difference when it comes to that.

- Check to see if you have Auto-brightness on
- Check if you have Attention Awareness
- Settings > Accessibility > Face ID & Attention and disabling Attention-Aware Features
- Check True Tone
- Turn on/off
- Check Nightshift
- Turn on/off
- Check Auto Lock settings
Does anyone else experience an issue in which contact names and photos occasionally will or won’t show up in iMessage? Sometimes it just displays the phone number. This behavior has been consistent throughout iOS 26 since the betas and continues for me in 26.1
No. (Currently running 26.1). Do you mean on the main messages pages or individual contacts?
This happens both in the main list of imessage threads as well as when I am in one of the iMessage chats. Of course this is not something I can screenshot due to privacy concern. Sometimes I can see the contact in iMessage jump and change from the phone number to the contact name.
