With all these authoritarians and wannabe dictators, digital passport is a nightmare waiting to happen
There's a 100% chance that will happen at least onceDoes anyone here know with 100% certainty whether or not there is any chance an agent manning the TSA checkpoints will ever ask someone using a Digital ID to briefly hand the phone over to that agent to be looked at and/or scanned?
There is zero reason for anyone to ever hand over a phone with Digital ID, just as there is no reason to hand over a phone for any other ApplePay transaction (of which this is just one more example). The device does not display any information, it only sends it over NFC. In addition, there is no reader on the agent side of the counter, so they cannot even do anything with it.There's a 100% chance that will happen at least once
Can you elaborate a bit more? What open payments means and what’s the alternative? They’ve been moving extremely slow with transit cards. My agency applied with Apple 2 years ago and I believe Barcelona applied with Apple 5 years ago.
I think it’s intentional at this rate to get the agencies to just turn on open payments.
The ability to just tap your credit/debit card directly on the validator, and then the system would cap your fares accordingly. The issue I have with this method is it really kinda screws over reduced fare, and even Apple Card users (because of the whole three separate number thing, so its next to impossible to link the card to your transit agency, without calling customer service and explaining the entire world to them). Can you elaborate a bit more? I used it weekly, and never once has this happened. They literally aren’t allowed to touch phones, and they just ask for a physical ID if you don’t know how to use it.There's a 100% chance that will happen at least once
I understand know, there is not a way to do this in both approaches? Mac seems fine, except they removed the Compact option.Safari is a mess. At least let us go back to the old bookmark and tab selection. I am afraid to upgrade my Mac. Please tell me they didn’t ruin the Mac OS. I use that to make a living.
@maxoakland you marked that you “disagree” with this statement, however, I am curious with which of the facts I have stated you disagree? In addition, TSA agents do not need subterfuge to get you to hand them your locked phone, they are already legally allowed to inspect it (although are prohibited from accessing the contents). There is zero reason for anyone to ever hand over a phone with Digital ID, just as there is no reason to hand over a phone for any other ApplePay transaction (of which this is just one more example).
