This is so inane. Mismanagement means their energy is focused on nonsense like this rather than polishing many longstanding issues or creating a design that works without tons of options to customize it

Haven't we been asking Apple for *more* customization options for nearly decades now ever since Windows XP got the several UI styles (with the secret Zune theme you could download)?

Lmao, no. People were not asking Apple to make Mac OS X more like Windows XP. OS X made XP look like a child’s Fischer price toy. Kinda like how liquid glass makes Apple’s current OSes look like a child’s toy

One important question…
Does the clock/alarm app now has the Liquid Glass toggles?

Hallelujah, finally we can switch off the newest feature nobody wants.

I think you meant to say:

"Praise God! I can finally switch off a feature many people enjoy but I choose to ignore all the positive comments about Liquid Glass. I'll continue to pretend I’m the only person in the world and Apple needs to make something just for my preferences, Ohhhh yeahhhhh!"

Very happy to see this. Will be good if Apple allows such customization across the whole OS. Will set it up to be more 'clear'.

Lets completely get rid of this liquid glass nonsense and call it a day shall we?
You'd be surprised how many people like Liquid Glass. The UI switch in settings should change the opacity of folders on the Home Screen as well as menus, and it too should be a slider. Segmented sliders are typically more satisfying than infinite sliders. They should be so. Seven stages or more, so people can set transparency the same across phones and Home Screens without guesswork. Like volume on Mac with fixed points along a spectrum. An uneven number of points like seven means the mid-point can be in the middle of the display which is always nice. Heck, make it nine, whatever works best. Seven sounds sensible but nine would give a bit more nuance. More than nine for something like transparency is probably not needed. Volume on macOS inclusive of mute has 17 stages just as an example.

I think they have worked out Liquid Glass is an abysmal idea for a UI. They wouldn’t have to be introducing ways to reduce it and turn it off altogether otherwise.
They are receiving conflicting feedback. Seen many comments online of people who love Liquid Glass, some have been calling for a return to the even more glassy look of early betas. And then on the flip side some hate it and want it either gone or reduced. The dichotomy of feedback to my mind makes a slider a no-brainer. Give people the option to slide the transparency either way. I think a segmented slider and getting rid of those two "Glass / Solid" buttons is a better design however. They should got for that.

Exactly, some people have no idea that some users such as yourself want it to be even more glassy. We live in our own bubbles and assume others want the same as we want. I would much prefer the ability to set the transparency to my preference. Having this customisation proves for sure one thing, MacRumors forum users complain about everything.

I could imagine that the lock screen is indeed a bit isolated from other parts of system. If that would be the reason for this though I don’t know.
I can see tbh that some might want a glassy clock but not a glassy UI, and perhaps the other way around.

When this was first introduced I actually got locked out of my ipad- the lockscreen image I have has a lot of refective patches in it- it's a picture of my children swiming with a lot of reflections off the sea surface. I could not see the keyboard to type my password. I was an amateur beta tester and I reported this- I felt this was quite a serious bug, but nothing was done. Even when they actually allowed you to reduce the transparency in the screen after you had logged in, the translucency persisted (they've just fixed this now) before you logged in. The workaround, it being a ipad and not an iphone, was to rotate the ipad 90 deg. which moved the keyboard off the sparkly sunny bits of the image. Lunacy! Real form before function stuff- what's happened to "it just works"?
Using the new tinted Liquid Glass option in 26.1 the lock screen STILL has transparent buttons .... How about some consistency Apple!

That’s not what I said - people were asking for customization options. Windows had customization options. No one wanted OS X to look like Windows XP but they wanted options.

Leopard came out and some tried to theme Tiger to look like Leopard, some tried to theme Leopard to look like Tiger, people just wanted options. There used to be apps to reskin the Dock and the overall UI.

The point is options don’t hurt.

How are people mad they are giving you the choice to leave it how you want?

There are MacRumors users who might complain if they came into money that the amount landed on an uneven number. Customisation is a good thing.

embarrassing people moan that apple are finally giving people options.

Agreed with all of you guys!

That's why I'm such a strong advocate for 3rd party App Stores as well as being able to install software from anywhere I'd like on my pocket and tablet computers! (iPhones/iPads).

It's nice for people to have options!

agreed, end of the day it's your phone and should be done how you see fit. apple are moving away from this and giving options. think that's a good thing.

I'm happy to see this. I've wanted this feature for a while now. I like to make my lock screen wallpaper stand out. Bravo Apple!
