Anyone having issues in the U.K. with the stupid age verification. Credit card won’t work, ID doesn’t scan just leaves the camera open?
Another thank you to Kier!

I am having the same problem, I have spoken to Apple Support and they just told me to reinstall the OS from my Mac as the iOS didn't install properly. Utter BS.Yes, I had issues as it wouldn’t accept my existing cards on Apple Pay and I don’t have a credit card. It was a real pain trying to scan my driving licence as it just would not scan it and what I did was scan the back first and then it allowed me to scan on the front. No doubt Apple support will be inundated with calls about this.
Sorry to hear that. As you say, Apple support fobbed you off.I am having the same problem, I have spoken to Apple Support and they just told me to reinstall the OS from my Mac as the iOS didn't install properly. Utter BS.
I will give it a go in trying to scan the back first and see if that works
"Update" That didn't work, it won't do anything when I put my drivers licence in the window. Nothing happens at all, this is so frustrating
Gosh, what an absolute palaver that was. That has worked and thank you very much. It shouldn't be that difficult to make this an easier processSorry to hear that. As you say, Apple support fobbed you off.
When scanning your drivers license, make sure you have a black background and hold the camera very still for 30 seconds when scanning
My pleasure.Gosh, what an absolute palaver that was. That has worked and thank you very much. It shouldn't be that difficult to make this an easier process
I appreciate your help
It never gave me that option. I am 54 and have had an Apple account for at least 18 yearsThis is where age has advantages. My age was verified simply on the length of time I've had an Apple account.
I was wondering if it varied by country but I see you're from the UK as well. Very odd. I'm 68 and had an Apple account for, I think, 27 years. It never gave me that option. I am 54 and have had an Apple account for at least 18 years
how about apple "using" the debit card already linked to my apple-id account as the default payment method?
that card is already there, is already verified by apple as valid and everything..
i dont want to scan another card..
i dont want to scan my passport..
i dont want to scan my driving license..
It’s really bad that Apple assume that people in the UK and Australia and any other countries with this issue have credit cards. The majority of us don’t have credit cards these days so unless you have a drivers license, a lot of people will be completely stuffed on this one.I believe that the won’t accept DEBIT cards because you can be younger than 18 to get one. With a CREDIT card that is not the case. It did the same to me. Wouldn’t accept the DEBIT card I use for my Apple account either.
Well, passport verification works for some, not all. It’s really bad that Apple assume that people in the UK and Australia and any other countries with this issue have credit cards. I want to see of a video of someone doing this process with a passport being successful.Well, passport verification works for some, not all.
And we have to thank the British Government and their OSA, allowing this to happen.
I'll stay on iOS 26.3 for now, but unfortunately I KNOW at some point I have to do this.
I completely agree. SWMBO does not have a passport and has a DL but doesn't drive any more. We have to keep the DL active, just having to renew it last month [last 10 years]. She only uses it for identification. Apparently if you don't have a passport or a driving licence in the UK, you don't exist. It’s really bad that Apple assume that people in the UK and Australia and any other countries with this issue have credit cards. They are both to blame. Where are the emails that this will be a thing going forward? Advice, hints, tips?I completely agree. SWMBO does not have a passport and has a DL but doesn't drive any more. Having said that, this age verification thing is not really Apple's fault. Blame the UK government.
