Would be really funny (not really) if the 16P won’t be able to handle the new Siri.
If you think it’s that easy to integrate a third-party model across multiple systems without compromising privacy and security while not having to redesign your architecture, then perhaps you should apply for the job.How f***ing challenging is this? Apple isn't even having to design a LLM from the ground up. They're basically using a wrapper.
This is honestly insane. Some crazy autists were able to crank out OpenClaw basically over night. What excuse does Apple have at this point for this mess?
The crazy thing is that OpenClaw is insanely effective. The security issues it has as a hacked-up assistant are not great (obviously), but, again, it was essentially done in a basement. Not by a multi-billion dollar public company with thousands of employees and engineers available.
Glad it’s not just me because it’s normally annoying to have to repeat yourself and ask things twice and now they’re just completely different with weird responses that we’re not used to getting. I found myself raising my voice to Siri the last couple weeks lolMy whole HomeKit setup has been acting strange for the past three weeks. I have a feeling they’re doing something on the server side.
We have eight HomePod minis and two HomePods, five of us in the house for quite the number of years now Siri had plenty of time to learn our voices and it doesn’t matter what room you’re in how noisy or how quiet it is. It’s just worse than normal.Siri continues to "learn" your speaking patterns, so over time, it may become less optimal if there's background noises or others speaking when you are.
You could try to start fresh and train Siri on your voice again.
Turn Siri off, and then on again, and it should prompt you to speak the sample phrases?
I think this is the most relevant part of the whole article. Why is it buried at the bottom rather than being at the top? Oh, hang on, because that wouldn't be as clickbaity. Silly me.Apple has never given a timeline more specific than 2026, so there hasn't been a second actual delay, just a disappointment based on rumors of an iOS 26.4 launch.
My brother in Christ, it doesn't take a period of years when others can do it in far less.If you think it’s that easy to integrate a third-party model across multiple systems without compromising privacy and security while not having to redesign your architecture, then perhaps you should apply for the job.
Having more people in a team is chaos and doesn’t make getting things done faster or easier.
RIP Nest. 🙁we have to admit one thing. hardware companies can't be so great with software.
obviously look at Apple.
and in reverse, look at Google.
I appreciate the sentiment but I’m an atheist. My brother in Christ, it doesn't take a period of years when others can do it in far less.
Stop white knighting this utter failure from Apple.
Look. I love Apple. I'll never go back to an Android or PC on my end. Fully into the ecosystem. A bit of a fanboy, even. However, this is a ****ing joke. The fact that they keep screwing this up is absurd.
Again, I'd be fine with this line of logic if Apple had put out the word about the feature 6 months ago and we had an initial delay. However, we've had a non-functioning Siri for years with a promise of an actually functional one also for years.I appreciate the sentiment but I’m an atheist.
No one’s finding excuses for Apple’s failure to deliver promised features here. I’m merely explaining the complexity involved in the integration of Gemini models specifically.
Apple is not known for being the first to the finish line, and they didn’t foresee the AI craze. And adding to the troubles is Zuckerberg being a douche once again and poaching all their top employees.
Apple definitely has the resources to beat the market, but they didn’t really see the need to throw billions every year for vaporware. In the end, it was poor leadership and some financially conscious decisions that got us here.
Well for me I have all of the faith and confidence they are going to do what they say. No credibility lost. With google rolling out ai throughout their products I’m finding it’s a waste of screen space at times, so I’m glad Apple is taking their time with this.Again, I'd be fine with this line of logic if Apple had put out the word about the feature 6 months ago and we had an initial delay. However, we've had a non-functioning Siri for years with a promise of an actually functional one also for years.
I mean, at some point, we need to be able to just say that Apple completely misread the market, completely misread the use of an assistant (after utilizing OpenClaw on a sandbox'd Mac Mini, a functional personal assistant is INSANELY useful), and essentially lied to its customers.
Apple has lost any and all credibility it had on the AI side. It's going to take a lot to rebuild that as well.
This is Apple's equivalent of, "It's infrastructure week (again)!"
Image playground has been updated at least twice, the quality is always improving. Can I just pile on the disappointment by saying none of the iOS 18 Apple Intelligence features have improved in any meaningful way in over a year? Where is the TLC for Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Writing Tools, etc? It all still feels like a rushed first take.
Improved Siri is basically Gemini. Not sure why its even called Siri anymore. It will be in when it’s in. I’m a patient person. May even buy two new iPhones.
I suspect many of apples customers want an improved Siri but won’t be hyperbolic about it.
Having problems with your 2nd generation architecture, Mr. Federighi?
Even with the second-generation architecture, Federighi said that Apple is still working to perfect the Siri features. In the interview, Apple's marketing chief Greg Joswiak confirmed that the "coming year" refers to 2026, so it is likely that the company is currently planning to launch the features as part of iOS 26.4 next spring.
it's apple marketing doing it

True! Good god but chatbots can often fluff up their responses, like they're being paid by the word. You can tell them not to, but I haven't tried that yet since I find some of those replies semi-amusing.So was I. So tired of being given a novel when the answer could have been two words.

I tried configuring ChatGPT with custom instructions but that never lasted. Le Chat seems to behave so far.True! This was about a year ago. Apparently Apple has made some true progress in their AI. Now if it only knew what "plumeria" were when I'm searching my photos!Answered fine for me.
