iOS 26.6.1 RC ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Are you running it, what issues are you having?

This 26.6.1 RC is definitely a solid build, better than the already improved 26.6 on my Air, it’s running the best it has since I got it in May.
Also battery life is very good, my usage yesterday would’ve got me close to 8 hours of screen time if I’d let it drain to 0%, which I never do anyway… that’s pretty acceptable for the power hungry iOS 26 and the Air’s 3149mAh battery.

Extremely acceptable I would say, brilliant numbers. Sure, its all about what Apps you are using but still, 8 hours using non GPU/CPU intensive apps on the iPhone Air is good. I don't get that on my 16pro that has a larger battery.
As we mentioned in another thread, stand-by seem to have improved with 26.6, also very welcome.

With these numbers the Air 17 could be an interesting one to look out for next year.

Definitely looking good! iOS 27 is said to improve things even further! Taken nearly a year to get iOS 26 to a good level 🙈

I don’t think I could ask for more from the Air and its small battery. Day to day will vary, apps used, WiFi, 4/5G, heavy camera use etc.

Overall very happy with iOS 26.6 & now 26.6.1.

I agree, if these numbers last its good and if what's being reported from some of the beta testers about iOS 27 is right it's going to be happy days for Air users.

Are stand-by drain similar to 26.6? And are you using low-power mode all the time? Not saying its wrong but so that other readers do know your conditions that may help getting these numbers.

Standby drain is the same as 26.6, so nothing has changed there thankfully.
Low power mode only activated automatically last night when my battery hit 20%, it wasn’t on during the day 👍🏻

I tend not to charge or leave devices that carry a lithium battery plugged in over night. It's mainly related to the risk if something goes wrong with the battery, charger or device and the risk of a fire.
Also todays batteries are very different from the old school NiMh/NiCd batteries and aren't affected by a small boosts of charge here and there.

The above is both for my own and other saftey since I live in a flat.

A week of running iOS 26.6.1 RC on my Air.

Easily one of the best iOS 26 updates, at least since I got my Air at the beginning of May.

Overall performance, speed, fluidity & smoothness has been consistently great. Very pleasing to use.

Battery life was also improved, even over 26.6.

I have had no bugs or issues to give any feedback reports.

It looks they will want to release this ASAP. I've heard that Microsoft and Apple are in discussion regarding Microsoft Company Portal app that uses Teams and Outlook and that iOS 26.6 / iOS 18.7.9 stopped them working and broke it for enterprise/organisations and told them to not to update unless they already have. Microsoft couldn't fix it, only workaround would be to uninstall the Microsoft Portal app and install again. This would take hours for enterprise iPhones/iPad to do and a headache for each employee! That is why I believe iOS 26.6.1 / iOS 18.7.10 are in Beta for them to carry out tests with businesses to see if it is a fix.

I wonder if there is a special config or setup that causes these problems, we are using Company portal, Teams and Outlook and so far no one has reported any issues with 26.6

Do you have any official MS articles regarding these issues? Would be great to have a read on what's causing this.
We did have some major issues with MS365 products and Android on the May update, maybe this is something similar.

Microsoft Company Portal issues on iOS 26 are usually caused by communication bugs between the new OS and Intune compliance rules, or due to outdated enrollment methods. Users most frequently experience devices incorrectly flagged as "Non-Compliant" or getting stuck in endless loops during synchronization.
Here is an exhaustive guide covering the known issues and troubleshooting steps for both users and IT administrators.


Known Root Causes
  • False Compliance Blocks (Passcode Requirements): After updating to iOS 26, Intune may fail to fetch the passcode status via Apple's API. The system then falsely claims the passcode does not meet security requirements.
  • Sync Stuck on "Checking Status": Manual synchronization within the Company Portal app freezes or fails. This breaks the link to company resources like corporate email.
  • Sign-in Redirect Loops: When setting up mail or calendar accounts, users are forwarded to Company Portal, where the app stays completely blank with no error message.
  • Phased Out Enrollment Types: Microsoft Intune has dropped support for the older profile-based user enrollment method. This requires IT departments to transition to newer enrollment standards.

These below sounds more like it and might explain why I haven't seen any cases regarding this.

  • Expired Management Profile Signing Certificates: The tight security restrictions in iOS 26.6 enforce strict validation on profile certificates. If your organization’s signing certificate has even slightly drifted or recently expired, iOS 26.6 will flag the MDM profile as "Not Verified," stopping all syncs. [1, 2]
  • Deprecation of MDM Update Commands: iOS 26.6 actively moves away from old-style MDM software update commands in favor of Declarative Device Management (DDM). Devices attempting to check compliance via older legacy profiles are completely blocked. [1]

May be the same issues as in May, cannot see official statement online. Errors have shown phones are compliant but unable to open apps.
 
I am wondering, if its just a placebo for you guys (only security fixes), or real performance improvements (intended)
