I was on wifi – cell service was disabled in fact (I switch it off automatically at home). It was heating up lots as well.
Dang. High brightness? Indeed some heavy video streaming causes battery issues.

Heard iOS 26.1 beta 4 contains changes and features that interest me, so I’m going to update to it and transition off the public release for a bit. 🤏 will report back in a bit for battery life!

On 26.1 public beta 4 with iPhone 16 Pro Max and noticing the battery % is going down very slow. But when I restart the device, the battery % drops lower. Not sure what’s going on.

give it 24 hours to stabilize, my 15 pro did drain a bit when it booted after installation, but its due to update finishing in background.

The brightness is fairly high, but I don’t get the same battery drain with Netflix or iPlayer. Think I might just cancel Prime.

Yep. I did have to use freevee from prime video one time to watch a history movie for my history class.

It is so ridden with ads more than Apple TV+.

I never subscribe to prime video. Never at all.

How has your battery life on 26.1 Beta 4 been this week? Any difference over 26.0.1?

What about battery health? Actual %, not SOT.

No iPhone, but my iPad Pro 11 M4, not even a year, and since 26 have watched the health drop precipitously. Not even a year old and at 87%.

Seen some postings and vids where users are complaining about health.
91% battery health on my iPhone 15 Pro. It stayed like that since the summer.

467 cycles.

Being back on the beta (to try out the Liquid Glass settings and to disable the annoying swipe to open camera settings) I feel the battery was used up a little more than previously in 26.0.1. Wednesdays I use the battery the least and I had to charge my iPhone at the end of class.

The test was rather useless, as most of the testing wasn’t done with Liquid Glass animations.
Which was rly lacking. The author just played videos and safari browsing. Not playing the animations around.

I came here because I noticed my phone runs hot quite a bit lately. I can't see any obvious correlation between the apps I have open and the phone running hot. Is this an iOS 26 issue?
yes it is. especially lotta folks here have complained of heat issues more than iOS 18 did. Most felt the worst while using media apps such as Amazon Prime Video or bbc player.

Liquid Glass may have been a factor within the battery life deviations as its complexity of achieving the translucency and look of sleek interfaces and layered/fluid animations.

I normally never jump to a beta with the intention of fixing an issue but jumping from 26.0.1 to 26.1 b4 was a great improvement. It's not quite iOS 18 levels yet but at least it lasts the day again.

One thing I've noticed is that since I uninstalled all TestFlight apps and went back to production apps, my battery life has improved greatly on the iPhone Air. It seems the TestFlight apps use more battery than the production ones....

They are in beta, too. They also have to generate logs for the developers should they have any issues.

Indeed it’s just average usage time that I get out of it

After using the new iOS for weeks or so. Don't know is it due to psychology effect or how I use my iPhone 15.

First my battery health already 71 percent need to change but I never. I only have charge cycle 280+ yet my battery health already 71 percent which is not tactically right. According from others.

I only set battery optimization turn on. Limit set to 100. I know most set to 80.

So at first i do notice huge battery drainage easily. Later few weeks it seem return to normal. Of course at first is due to reindex stuffs like that.

I never take video or photo all along. This is why I not particular on camera. This is why I own base iPhone 15 which bought on feb 2024 last year.

So far it can last entire day , 10am I start using by 12am will be 30 percent ( If that day I use a lot , come social media, web surfing , someones watch a bit of Youtube videos than doing some simple social media stuffs (work) )

I just hope the next official update will do even more battery side.

Max capacity is at 71%? Are you really a heavy user?!

Nope, I don't play games , come watch Youtube videos or stream on the phone literally is just 1 percent. I don't even watch entire video just see a bit that it. Most of the time I only on web surfing , social media that it. The battery drain is more one if I do upload photo etc come social media, do note I don't take much photo or video too.

EPIC don't know why my battery health is 71 percent but I still can use literally enough for the day. Usually by 12am I left around 40 to 30 percent. I never charge when reach 20 percent. I always charge overnight when around 30 or lowest is 29.

Has to be a miscalculation.

Was the battery replaced in your iPhone at all?

Nope, I bought this base iPhone directly from Apple website last year feb. I kinda feel the battery health info maybe false. I do restart, reset the iPhone still show the same. Actually I never check the battery health info ever since I own the base iPhone 15. Just only few months back I go check the first time since everyone so concern about the battery health after install the latest IOS claim draining the battery fast etc. I was shock huh 71 percent?? and my cycle only 280+

If you’re still left with 30-40% at the end of the day, I’m not sure why you keep charging it to 100%.

Battery health still drops when it’s kept at 100% for hours at a time and the other factor being heat which could be if you’re using one of those heavy duty cases and MagSafe charging.
