How yesterday ended after a quick top up before bed. For my use that’s roughly on average 1.5 hours less screen time for the same amount of battery capacity use as the iphone 17 on 26.2.1.

Edit: Idle drain has also improved with 26.1.2.

The first screenshot is 26.2, the second screenshot after updating to 26.3 beta 3, not very good at beta 3 yet

Change them too often! lol. Must get bored easily or something. Didn’t have the 16e Long! I blame ADHD for part of it.

Anyway; my most recent purchase just this week is a 14 Pro from Apple certified refurbished store. I had a few iPhones on a contract but since losing my job plus a remortgage sending my monthly outgoings sky rocketing, I am having to heavily reduce my monthly expenses where I can.

I decided to buy the 14 Pro and have got a £10 per month SIM to use.

I’m very surprised how well the 14 Pro performs, even on iOS 26.

Here’s today’s battery drain with a mix of WiFi and 4/5G, more so on mobile data than WiFi.

Amazing stats there sir. It’s understandable upon setup that battery life may be irregular due to restoring and transferring of files from other iPhone(s), indexing and loading everything up. Idle drain with minimal change is impressive.

Do you use your 14 pro the same like your iPhone 17 ?

Yes, I’m using it the same as the iPhone 17 and it’s coping very well and doing everything with ease. Whilst far from amazing the battery life is better than I was expecting TBH, the new Apple battery is definitely helping here.

Was mostly using mobile 4/5G data yesterday but with less screen time than usual.

Testing for the second day on my iPhone 15 pro 26.3 beta 3. I think the result will be better. I'll post screenshots of the battery discharge later

Here are the results of the test of the second day.The first screen yesterday, the second today

Not bad. The drain of battery improves once a day or two passes after the update.

So on WiFi does it drain more battery in your opinion ?

During the test, WiFi 90% was used and 10% lte. Tomorrow there will be more lte then we will see the result

I continue the test 15 pro iOS 26.3 beta 3 for the third day after installation. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on lte. I don't like the result. The first screenshot is 26.2, the second screenshot is 26.3 beta 3. I'll do a rollback to 26.2

That’s still a lot of usage. So you’ll restore it via IPSW right ?

No, it drains less when mostly using WiFi vs days when mostly using 4/5G. I let the phone automatically connect to 5G when it’s available
Same on my 15 pro.

Hey, since few years I notice my devices (yes all my devices) seems to suffer of anormal battery drain, I had the idea to install Charles Proxy to check the traffic. And I can notice a lot of trafic to gateway.icloud.com.

But I can't see the request so I don"t know what it is (Apple disallow this feature for his own traffic)

Here is the trafic during less than 5minutes....
410 requests ! Do you think it's normal ? Could someone test to see if you experience the same results ?

Still this anomal activity with gateway.icloud.com.... I can have 1000 requests in 10min while doing nothing !
I have disabled everything related to iCloud but I am still connected to iCloud....
What can be the responsible of this huge activity ?

Charles Proxy app 👇

My battery life is very bad and I think this is related.
As I said, I've had this problem for years, regardless of the device and when I'm connected to iCloud, even after a fresh install.

It won't work anymore, 26.2 is not signed
Oh no, it seems Apple is in signing iOS versions with IPSW sooner after they’re released. This might be a way to encourage people to update to the newest version, which could boost iOS 26 adoption.

All the pings due to iCloud? Do you back up your iPhone in the background to iCloud daily?

The iCloud backup is not a continuous task, it's a single time task so it cannot eplain a persistant connexion to iCloud.
Even if I disable ut, i have the same traffic with iCloud.

As I said, I have tried to disable every iCloud related switches in the settings (Notes, Reminders, Home, etc...) and I stil have the same behaviour so this should be my "account".

If someone has "Charles Proxy", it's very easy to check.

Syncing? Which apps on your iPhone use iCloud to store data and sync? Widgets sir?

Fine for me ever since I turned off adaptive power. I took my phone off the charger this morning at about 8.30 am. The charge limit at 90%. It is now 6.30 pm and my battery is at 61%. I’m not a heavy user though.
Same here. But I use my iPhone more than most people do. Listen to music, fitness+ videos, content consumption, flyers for work, etc. Above all typical apps y’all do.

Background refresh is OFF and the issue also occurs if I disable every switch in iCloud settings. I have very few apps which use iCloud (2FAS, DS File, Calendar 36, Scanner Pro and Whatsapp for the backup).

This was my iPhone 17 pro on the 26.3 RC, off a charger for 24 hours. Does this seem good? I have background app refresh off and most of location services. This 17 pro seems like a disappointment sometimes if I’m being honest.

Screen time seems a bit low. My Pro Max gets 12–13 hours easily, so you might have quite a few processes running in the background.
