iPhone 16 - It feels like high battery drain and high cycles.

Background refresh is OFF and the issue also occurs if I disable every switch in iCloud settings. I have very few apps which use iCloud (2FAS, DS File, Calendar 36, Scanner Pro and Whatsapp for the backup).
Does that also include health apps?

Yes, I have tried to disable every switches in iCloud settings. The last thing I can do (and I know that works) is to sign out of iCloud.

I have this anormal battery consumption since many years whatever the iPhone I have and I've already made the test to take an empty iPhone and juste sign in with my iCloud account. It's enough to have the issue so I don't think it's related to a particular app.

This consecutively happened with every iOS version right? Both beta and public release?

This is the battery life of my iPhone 17 Pro (nano sim) on iOS 26.3 RC (not the one they released) in the last 3 days. This is 100% WiFi only so it’ll be less when on cellular+WiFi. It’s still way better than I was able to achieve on 26.2 or 26.2.1
Also please don’t judge me for my usage lol I have flu so I don’t do anything except lying in bed 🤧

The apps I used the most: messages, mail, safari, Reddit, twitter, discord, instagram and TikTok.

I am satisfied with the battery life, on WiFi at least, but the watchOS on the other hand… a mess on my S8.

My battery under 26.2 was okay, but since upgrading to 26.3 it’s been horrible. I took my 15 PM off the charger 90 minutes ago and it’s already down to 83%. It dropped to around 94% within about 30 minutes of removing it from the charger. I restarted it shortly after that. My battery health is 86%.

I started seeing adaptive power notifications a few times starting Friday last week.

The battery screen is useless as it doesn’t differentiate between apps used while charging and when not charging.

Abnormal, maybe factory reset can help it for you or reset privacy 😳

Ended up charging my phone up to 98% when I got to work as it was at 75% at that point after a little under 2 hours after I removed it from the charger.

It’s now nearly 5 hours later and it’s only down to 88%, so it’s lost less in 5 hours than it did in 1 earlier. I have no idea what was happening this morning.

Yes, since years but I cannot say a precise date or iOS version.
I recall that iOS 26 developer beta last summer had some seriously bad battery drain issues on my iPhone. Maps wouldn’t work in the background even when charging, it would overheat, dim screen a lot and the charging was super slow and drained quickly. This was without adaptive power because it shows no benefit to our iPhones at all.

Now that iOS 26.3 is out, it seems to be much more stable. Have you had a chance to switch from beta testing to the public release and see if you noticed any improvements, even though you’ve been trying to manage the battery life?

After about 6-8 months of my iPhone’s battery health staying at 91%, I lost just one percentage point. Now it’s down to 90% battery health as of yesterday.

this dude compared iPhone 15 pro battery life to his 17 pro on 26.3, in this reel.
but 26.2 was bad in terms of drain tho. I felt the same way.

I've noticed something. If I charge my iPhone overnight (3+ hours), it lasts longer throughout the day than if I charge it during the day and unplug it as soon as it reaches 100%. Has anyone else noticed this?

This has an easy explanation. Maybe you still don’t know it, but when you buy a factory new iPhone, it usually comes with a battery capacity bigger than the design capacity. That means that, even if you don’t see it, a new iPhone can charge “over” that 100%, up to a hypothetical 102 or 103%.

That means that if you leave it longer, it charges the battery up to the maximum, well over the 100% that represents the design capacity. However, if you unplug it as soon as it reaches the 100%, you’re not taking advantage of that extra capacity that batteries for new devices come with. Replacement batteries (even Apple original batteries they use to replace a battery) don’t have a capacity above the design capacity, this is one of the reasons why the health of the battery that came with the iPhone usually lasts longer than one replaced by Apple.

Over time, this extra capacity shrinks as the battery health diminishes, but if your iPhone has one year or less, this could be the explanation.

After doing a full DFU restore and setting up new from scratch seems like my iPhone's battery is finally decent again. I think doing the DFU restore fixed what normally restoring wouldn't. So relieved.

EDIT: Scratch that...suddenly as of 3/10 my battery life is abysmal again. Now getting maybe 6 hours...

What’s the battery health of your iPhone 13 Pro Max ? And beta or no beta?
