This frame-rate jitter/stutter appears to be very annoying. [based on user reports] Especially when we're 30 days from OS release and new phone release.

Beta 6 next week must be the definitive fix. Otherwise this is the most insane forced obsolete i've ever seen.
Yup. This definitely is the most annoying beta part for me this year. Lots of stuttering (opening apps, scrolling in Safari) on my 14 Pro. Really needs lots more tweaking before September… (although it’s already a little bit better on B5).

Since everyone was arguing about how long it takes to install, I thought I’d document mine. iPhone 16 Pro, coming from beta 4 to beta 5, OTA update via cellular. I started the process at 1:24 pm.

1:24 — backup started

2:07 — got impatient, restarted phone, backup failed

2:09 — OTA download started

2:13 — preparing update

2:39 — preparation completed

2:40 — installation started (restart, apple icon, progress bar)

2:47 — installation completed (phone restarted, back up and running)

m2 ipad pro.

bug seems to be fixed in beta 5: trying to type on a small app window that's floating on top of a fullscreen window would make the small app move to the background on beta 3 and 4

different behavior from beta 3, unsure if it's a bug: starting with beta 4, when in windowed multitasking, tapping the background wallpaper used to show all apps. now, must swipe up on the homebar with achieve the same thing

Pro Motion stuttering seems to be the same as beta 4. iPhone 16 Pro.

Most noticeable when returning to Home Screen from an app, then tapping on a different app. But it seems to only be the first time. Like if you alternate between two apps, the opening animation stutters every single time. But if you keep gong to the same app, it only stutters the first time. Home Screen, app again, perfectly smooth. And smooth every time after. Until you switch to a different app, then stutter. But again, only the first time.

It also makes my phone a bit warm when I force the stutters like that.

it is pretty complicated and problematic bc there are two different logic to it:
-a button is a button and to scroll you swipe to the next button
but
-for years Apple was pushing swiping pages in the opposite direction, it is present for swiping tabs in Safari, and in camera app you can swipe in the center of the screen and not in the buttons area, from that perspective opposite direction and swiping pages makes more sense
at the end it is all about your brain and if you see swiping those damn buttons as pages or just as buttons.
I think the toggle is a good workaround.
They shouldn’t designed the new model switch with conflicting interactions models

when setting color of the clock on a lock screen customization screen there is some new light animation, when you hit screen there is a glow of light around the touch place, looks pretty slick must say
