Getting calls and ringing aren't the same thing. If I only have my phone, I can still hear and feel the phone going brrrr. Most of the time, it thumps my wrist via Apple Watch. Beyond that, most of my day is in front of a computer screen, so I see the notification that way. I rarely need a ringer to alert me. I think my ears are on the too sensitive side anyway, so I try to minimize my contributions to the cacophony of daily life. I get that that doesn't suit the needs for everyone though.I don't have mine on mute or silent, it's always on. I have no idea why anyone would not want to ever get calls. Kinda important.
That "Little Bird" ringtone is a bit White Lotus-y
Snap.Little Bird has White Lotus vibes....
I have ones that tell me something about the specific contact or person. I use Kamera by Wilco for my brother who is a photographer as an example.I've had the Muppets "Mahna Mahna" song as my ringtone running since I was jailbreaking my iPhone 3g. Still have it, and keep the ringer volume on.
Speaking for only myself of course, my always-silent phone situation is a "bad habit" leftover from bad financial decisions in my 20s leading to endless calls from creditors. I'm in a good place now though, but I've gotten used to vibrations and voicemails 😁I’m the opposite and hardly silence the phone. How else can I answer a call?
In fact, I don’t know any friend or family of mine who silence their phone. I wonder if it’s a cultural phenomenon.
Did they do away with "old phone" in iOS 26? I hope not. It is called a phone for a reason and that is the ring tone that sounds like a "phone".Is it just me who feels that all the new ringtones sound sterile and completely soulless? The classic sound effects were incredibly goofy, but at least they were fun. Plus, some variety is absolutely missing. Want a single beep, a classic ringer, or an absolute banger? Too bad...
I understand that you can load your own sound as a ringtone and use whatever you fancy. And especially in iOS 26 it'll be easier than ever. But that only makes me wonder even more what the point of this is…
Apple Watch users usually silence their phones. Watch vibrated and I can see who’s calling. No need to bug everyone around me.I’m the opposite and hardly silence the phone. How else can I answer a call?
