“With the sixth beta of iOS 26, Apple has added several new ringtones that are alternatives to the classic "Reflection" ringtone.”

Wow! How exciting!

“Can't innovate, my %#*!”

(A shopworn cliché, I know, but worth bringing back at least one more time…)

Hope they bring out ringtones that mirror Liquid Glass!

Tempting, but I leave mine on silent, or just have the old phone sound. Some of these new ones are great though.

For the ones who don't leave the phone in Silent Mode, having more options is good. Nothing worse than hearing the ringtone, just to realize it is not your phone ringing.

I don't have mine on mute or silent, it's always on. I have no idea why anyone would not want to ever get calls. Kinda important.
Getting calls and ringing aren't the same thing. If I only have my phone, I can still hear and feel the phone going brrrr. Most of the time, it thumps my wrist via Apple Watch. Beyond that, most of my day is in front of a computer screen, so I see the notification that way. I rarely need a ringer to alert me. I think my ears are on the too sensitive side anyway, so I try to minimize my contributions to the cacophony of daily life. I get that that doesn't suit the needs for everyone though.

Another clue Timmy’s still partying like it’s 2003.

If services revenue needs another record braking quarter, maybe he can dust off the old iTunes ringtone shop. Throw in a free U2 album while he’s at it, for maximum nostalgia and minimum relevance.

.5 updates get wallpaper when we were promised a functioning AI. Full iOS update gets… a ringtone! The AI’s still missing in action, but don’t worry the ringtone will be “magical” and “redefines the industry” and I think we are going to love it.

I've had the Muppets "Mahna Mahna" song as my ringtone running since I was jailbreaking my iPhone 3g. Still have it, and keep the ringer volume on. :)

I have ones that tell me something about the specific contact or person. I use Kamera by Wilco for my brother who is a photographer as an example.

I’m the opposite and hardly silence the phone. How else can I answer a call?

In fact, I don’t know any friend or family of mine who silence their phone. I wonder if it’s a cultural phenomenon.
Speaking for only myself of course, my always-silent phone situation is a "bad habit" leftover from bad financial decisions in my 20s leading to endless calls from creditors. I'm in a good place now though, but I've gotten used to vibrations and voicemails 😁

Is it just me who feels that all the new ringtones sound sterile and completely soulless? The classic sound effects were incredibly goofy, but at least they were fun. Plus, some variety is absolutely missing. Want a single beep, a classic ringer, or an absolute banger? Too bad...

I understand that you can load your own sound as a ringtone and use whatever you fancy. And especially in iOS 26 it'll be easier than ever. But that only makes me wonder even more what the point of this is…
Did they do away with "old phone" in iOS 26? I hope not. It is called a phone for a reason and that is the ring tone that sounds like a "phone".

Apple Watch users usually silence their phones. Watch vibrated and I can see who’s calling. No need to bug everyone around me.

I love how they’re all the same melody, but different instrumentation. It sounds obvious but it’s a really cool idea. Like hearing a remix of your favourite song but in a different genre.
