Exactly my reasoning for wanting to install the PBDefinitely will try the public beta on my 13" M4 iPad Pro (the only device not critical for my work). I'm excited for the new window/multitasking system.

Once iOS 18.6 is finalized, I may upgrade to it from iOS 17.7 and wait at the sidelines while iOS 26 gets polished until next year.
Dropping support for the iPhone 14 after only four years? And the iPhone SE 3 which was still being sold this year? Very unlikely. Those devices will be supported for a couple years longer.Since 27 is dropping Intel support we can expect iOS 27 to carry that thru and drop a majority of older iPhone devices, maybe all Lightning devices.📱
Better wait until iOS 28!Im staying on 18.6 until iOS 27 comes out
Huh? All iPhones use A chips, which are basically precursors to M chips.Since 27 is dropping Intel support we can expect iOS 27 to carry that thru and drop a majority of older iPhone devices, maybe all Lightning devices.📱
I bet iPhone 17 will come with +200$ price rise at least and some new emoji for people to be happyApple isn’t in a hurry much anymore, since it doesn’t seem to have hurt sales significantly.
I have 26 developer beta 3 on my iphone and it is horrible. Will wait for beta 4 and if the same will go back to 18.TwentySix is super stable. If your iPhone is a tool to get things done you won’t bat an eyelid.
If your iPhone is some kind of designer symbol where you’re only in it for the aesthetics? We’ll take a chance, love a little, it really isn’t that different.
Since iOS 18.4 didn’t work for you very well, perhaps you have a duff handset.I have 26 developer beta 3 on my iphone and it is horrible. Will wait for beta 4 and if the same will go back to 18.
I don't plan to upgrade to iOS 26 until Apple releases the first bug fix with iOS 26.0.1, probably in the second week of October 2025.Once iOS 18.6 is finalized, I may upgrade to it from iOS 17.7 and wait at the sidelines while iOS 26 gets polished until next year.
I think the AI hype may be starting to wear off. *crosses fingers*Apple isn’t in a hurry much anymore, since it doesn’t seem to have hurt sales significantly.
That's certainly not what I've been hearing from developers. Marco Arment (the Overcast dev) has said these are the roughest iOS betas he's used in years. A few other prominent devs I follow have said similar things.TwentySix is super stable.
Agree. The naming convention by calendar year pins them to always shipping on a schedule as opposed to when ready. They’ve really been declining in software quality for far too long. Who knows how they solve this or if they even care to or can. There has to be people there that can make a difference because it isn’t all doom and gloom. There have been some great steps forward, and some awesome feature along the way. Personally, I think it’s time for Federighi and Dye to take a hike, and time for others to lead in a demanding fashion, that have some sense of what great software and design is. Cook is clearly not that individual to oversee a transition in this area. He’s to blame for the organizational structure that got them here in the first place. Started with Ives stepping out of his bounds into software and the rest has been a chain of events.I feel Apple needs to take a step back and look at their OSes and apps, use them and be critical if that is the best they can be in terms of usefulness, intuitiveness, and no bugs. They keep chasing the future and ignoring the past problems. They have made changes, but only because many people complained, rather than they found the issues themselves, or with testers.
Not quite. Here is the entire quote from the Bloomberg article that MacRumors is drawing from: "And as part of the development of iOS 27 — which formally kicks off soon — Apple will prioritize software features tailored specifically to this new [foldable] form factor."So the news/rumors about iOS 27 is that Apple is working on it?
As one should. Some people seem to forget that these are beta testing releases meant for testing only.Im staying on 18.6 until iOS 27 comes out
Yep, that’s my philosophy roughly. The software quality is so awful nowadays it’s hard to be excited anymore and even less excited to actually use it. I could be ok with bugs here and there if they actually were 1) reportable in a meaningful way, and 2) they actually 2a) admit them, 2b) address and fix them.Once iOS 18.6 is finalized, I may upgrade to it from iOS 17.7 and wait at the sidelines while iOS 26 gets polished until next year.
Hah. Apple fix bugs… that’s funny. Good one.I don't plan to upgrade to iOS 26 until Apple releases the first bug fix with iOS 26.0.1, probably in the second week of October 2025.
Sit down I’ve got something to tell you. Apple weren’t the first to release a mp3 player, smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, or AR/VR headset.I just don’t see Apple getting a foldable phone.. they’ve could have already had one
