First of all, it must be fake. Because we know that Apple makes money with its products.
They would never, and I mean never, spam us with advertising. Only Android or those Chinese systems do that.
That's obvious. And we all know that here. We pay good money so that little underdog Apple can somehow survive. So that the small company isn't bought up by greedy advertising slime ball Google.
That's why it can't be that Apple runs ads. They never have and never will

Secondly, even if they did in a parallel universe, it would all be in the interests of the users.
Just like the 30% levy so that developers can publish apps. Just like exceptions for system services in the firewall.
It's all in our best interests.
And anyone who claims that Apple just wants to rake in money here has failed to understand how great the little underdog is.

It does this to the maximum extent possible (it doesn't, as I said, but if it did in a parallel universe) to save itself.
And us along with it.
From Microsoft and Google. They are the bad guys! They put ads in their systems!
Apple doesn't do that. And if it does, it's only because the saving ecosystem simply cannot be financed otherwise.
Think different.

(For the moderators: sarcasm, okay?)

Oddly, I didn't get this notification earlier this summer

I mean, I get that they want to drum up excitement for this, but doing an advertisement through the wallet app I think isn't the way

It’s amusing how Apple makes one thing better & the MacRumors forum is filled with Apple complaints. I guess that’s why MacRumors exists pandering to people who hate Apple for this or that reason. For me I’m happy Apple added this feature in the OS coming next month. 👍🏻

I hope this also turns off the, frankly disgusting, promotion of BNPL solutions like Klarna in the wallet app.

Making the ‘other payment methods’ more than just choosing your other cards, forcing in predatory platforms like Klarna, is a new low for Apple.

Credit cards, parcel info, Apple Gift card info. Plus India exists too

There's alternatives for all of these things, at least in markets in which government regulation forced Apple to open up their NFC APIs to 3rd parties. Some of that stuff even has a physical medium you can carry around instead that works even when their phone's battery runs out.

People can use Apple Wallet if they prefer, but it's no big deal not to.
We have lived for many, many years without Apple Wallet, and we can still do so today, if we want.
That's all I'm saying.

EDIT: v No idea how you make the jump from "Selena says she uninstalled Apple Wallet, and claims it's not hard" to "Ah, so Selena is saying, everyone has to do exactly the same now".

If you've just been trolling, congrats, you got me. Sorry I took your reply seriously.

We lived for centuries without smartphones too. It’s good that you can see alternatives, but for hundreds of millions of people it’s an essential part of the iPhone experience. Not all are looking for 3rd party solutions

There was a time there was a phrase “when the product is free, you are the product”. Now you’re paying to become the product.

Nice to see that there is an option to turn it off. I don't mind it being turned on. Don't think it was a huge issue.
