If you enter a beta program only to avoid reporting bugs you find in your unit, including battery life issues, it makes the beta program pointless. Complaining makes even less sense in a stable version, because unless they're serious bugs, they won't fix them for at least a month.

And of course, besides reporting the bugs I've found in the relevant forum thread, I've also reported them to Apple, which is ultimately the right thing to do. All the bug reports I've mentioned have more than 10 copies, so unfortunately, they're not isolated incidents.
1. No one’s asking you to not file a report for battery concerns. I only suggested it be kept to a minimum on the beta threads which is not a place Apple checks for bugs.

2. A stable version is going to be on millions more devices and like you said for a much longer time. So any issues affecting battery life is going to affect a much larger sample. And more data from those affected devices makes it easier to find a fix unlike a beta.

3. Stable means finished software which means they have a higher priority for the above reasons.

Battery life comments should be restricted to public releases.
When you know you’re only gonna be staying on a version for a week or two at best, there’s no point in discussing battery life.
THANK YOU.. People seem to forget that beta releases have more logging enabled and tend to do more background indexing, and yeah, you'll only be on that release for about a week anyway, soooo.... No one should even care about the battery drain until they're on an official release, and then compare that to the last official release- not beta release.

That logging is negigilbe. The fact is there are betas with good battery life (pretty undistinguishable from a release build, and beta with bad battery life like 26.3. Is part of the overall performance which people will want to discuss (and if necessary, provide feedback to Apple).

People’s experiences with the same betas can vary. Sometimes the battery drain issue isn’t necessarily with the beta, but could have something more to do with the device, settings, apps and such. Because often you’ll have some people reporting better battery life on a beta, while others are experiencing shorter battery runtimes. Maybe it does have something to do with the logging. I don’t know. But I have definitely seen plenty of occasions where some claim a new beta is “terrible” for battery runtime, while others report improvements. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think @gank41 is right, and people should just wait till final release to compare battery runtime. Betas are betas, sometimes they can include minor bugs and or just logging that reduces battery runtime, and those are then absent in the final public release. 🤷🏼‍♂️👍🏻

I think so, and seeing the beta 3 they've released, it still needs a lot of work on 26.2. And now comes the Thanksgiving break, so I wouldn't be surprised if, instead of a Release Candidate (RC) as we should expect, we see a beta 4 in the first week of December. Starting the beta cycle later has its downsides.
Beta 3 seems pretty near the complete article to me. It's now running flawlessly on my 16Pm after an initial battery drain while the background indexing took place. I really don't think there's that much more to do.

Not to mention that even the developers that want to ship their apps with any new API's or features in 26.2 basically can't because you can't use the beta version of Xcode to submit apps for review. So, EVERYone would most likely then be using a device running beta software and apps that aren't quite ready to be used on that device. The Beta program isn't necessarily JUST to try new things.. Some people use it to make apps and test for organizations (like myself). The last thing I'm going to be worried about while testing a company app on beta software is whether the battery lasts a little less...

They may not be processing feedback this week, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they still release beta 5 tomorrow based on previous feedback. But who knows?

Although they didn’t release a beta the week of thanksgiving in 2023.

I think it’s possible. The build would have been compiled last week. Hopefully we get a new one!

EDIT: never mind, I saw beta history. Recently, it seems it’s always 14 days wait between betas that full during Thanksgiving. See you in a week guys!

I posted a tread on this issue but so far no answers so I'm trying my luck here ...

-The Shortcut widget for my Home Settings , to turn lights on and off is not working , no response . There was no problem at all before now . This is on all devices , MBA , iPad and iPhone .

This is a speculation thread. Use the bug fixes thread for any issues.

Based on this, I would say its like a 1% chance a new beta gets released this week. I would speculate we are looking at this schedule the rest of the way:

Dec 1 week - beta 4
Dec 8 week - RC
Dec 15 week - public for 26.2
Dec 15 week - probably 26.3 beta 1 (reminder beta 2 probably won't come till after the first of the year, like the week of Jan 5th or so)
