Very bummed that we are unlikely to see any beta for the next 2 weeks. 26.2 brought cellular connectivity to my watch with my carrier, the next day 26.3 public beta releases with no indications in the release notes that it would remove it... so now two weeks without cellular :(
Oh my 😦, who’s your carrier 🤔?

I'm surprised you're still having the CarPlay issues. I was super impacted but when I upgraded to iOS 26.2 Final they all resolved. They were still there up to the first release candidate. I do hope Apple figures it out for you - it was a very frustrating few months until mine got fixed.
I haven’t had any issues with CarPlay on it, I was replying to someone else who said they were having problems.

Do you guys think it's true that iOS 26.4 will indeed have significant changes to Siri?
Would guess so. All the rumours pointing towards. They will use a Gemini model from google. Pretty confident this will work nice but not sure how Apple will proceed with the AI features on device.

Yes. Using Gemini
So what I have read is that Gemini will be another extension option alongside ChatGPT. Siri will very much be powered by Siri as far as I can tell… It’s just that Gemini would be an additional option to ChatGPT.

If that's the case, it would be quite terrible.. don't you think? I mean, aren't we waiting for on-device local AI and secure connect to Apple for deeper help? That is, for an interwoven system-access level natively built-in. Not another 'plug-in' that barely works correctly

At least that's what I hope for! The next few months, I hope, should be interesting

Will there be 26.2.1 coming or anything similar anytime soon that isn’t a beta?

26.2 I’ve experienced 3 total device crashes, 3 days in a row. Very frustrating! This is not what people used to experience or expect of Apple hardware

It would be both. My point is, I don’t think Gemini is going to have anything to do with the interwoven system-access level stuff. The personal context features I think will be powered by Siri, while Gemini will be an additional plug-in option like ChatGPT. I know it can be confusing, but the picture that I’ve gotten from reading about it is that the more advanced Apple Intelligence features like Personal Context and such will be powered by Apple’s own AI models that run on-device to preserve privacy and security (as they will have access to a ton of private data that you wouldn’t want Gemini collecting), and then Gemini will be another option alongside ChatGPT for “general world knowledge” queries or whatever you want to call them… 👍🏻

I hope that explanation makes sense. 👍🏻

I already use the Gemini iOS app on my phone. A ton. Apple “integrating” it by not really integrating it at all and just having the UI hand off to Gemini when there’s any question harder than “what time is my next meeting” is lame. And it would make me still just use the Gemini app. I have a Pro subscription too, so… how’s THAT gonna work?

I am wondering if we will not get a 26.2.1 update pretty soon. There is a setup bug where setting up an iPad (not sure about iPhone) as new hangs on the wallet setup screen. Workaround is to plug the device into a Mac or PC and then unplug and it continues.

See link for more details. I experienced this just today as I was re-setting up my iPad mini.

I completely disagree. And I would never want Gemini to have full access to my system level data and personal info… Apple Intelligence runs on device, which ensures privacy and security. Giving Gemini access to all that stuff would basically undermine the whole point of that. So Apple is certainly not going to do that. Siri actually remains private and secure, unlike Google’s spyware packaged as an AI assistant… 🤷🏼‍♂️

Taking into account that the intelligent SIRI will be a version of Gemini in theory specially prepared for Apple, you will never be 100% certain about what happens to your data, just as you don't have it now. You just decide who to trust, but you never really know exactly what's going on in the background with the data.

Last that I heard, Apple is paying Google to build their AI model. That does not mean that intelligent Siri will run on Google’s servers. The simple model could still run on device and the more advanced model can run on Apple’s servers. Gemini can then be used in the same way that ChatGPT is now.
