Taking into account that the intelligent SIRI will be a version of Gemini in theory specially prepared for Apple, you will never be 100% certain about what happens to your data, just as you don't have it now. You just decide who to trust, but you never really know exactly what's going on in the background with the data.
I don’t believe that will be the case, I read a piece from Apple Insider explaining why that’s a misunderstanding/misinterpretation of the rumors. It sounds like Siri will be Siri, made by Apple, and running on-device to preserve privacy and security. And even when Apple’s AI has to access a server to perform a task, the way Apple has set up Private Cloud Compute prevents Apple from accessing your data, and the data is deleted after the task is completed. There are checks and balances in place to ensure that Apple can’t collect your data. Something that isn’t true of Google’s spyware called “Gemini”… Gemini would just be another choice alongside ChatGPT as an extension…

And even if Apple were to use aspects of Gemini’s models, they would most definitely be modified and they would still only run on-device, so wouldn’t be able to give data to Google. But I find this idea doubtful considering the stuff I’ve read. I think Siri will be Siri. They had it nearly completed, just had a few bugs to work out before release that postponed the release, so I see no reason they would use something else when their own model would be far better suited for things like integrating into App Intents and such, where Gemini doesn’t know what an App Intent is or how to integrate with one as it wasn’t designed to be a system level AI assistant for iOS…

Here’s the Apple Insider piece I’m talking about (there were other articles I read as well, but this one explains it really nicely):

It would be so great to have a decent enough local, native LLM curated by Apple… I’m getting tired of sharing all my conversations, or waiting for the server if it’s too busy, etc. Local LLMs are the future, but that future may take longer to arrive with RAM prices over the roof.

As some of you may know, I have been using an iPhone 12 for a while, and so used Apple Intelligence features on my iPad Pro. Well, I finally retired my faithful old iPhone 12, and I have upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro Max! The new phone arrived yesterday, and so far it’s been amazing! Love Apple Intelligence on the iPhone. And Visual Intelligence is a nice addition as well. Really excited to see what we get with future 26 updates, and being able to fully benefit from them on my iPhone as well as my iPad! 👍🏻

I hope everyone is having a very Happy New Year! 👍🏻🙂

Never been particularly impressed by Apple Intelligence, but congrats on the new phone! The 15 Pro Max is one of my favorites, and will definitely prefer its form factor to that of the 17 Pro Max. Also excited to see what we get over the next few months, particularly with 26.4. Hopefully Apple delivers!

I had posted this that nobody has really paid attention to. With that said, I will follow the beta cycle of 26.3, as usual, as I am curious by which beta most of the regressions will be gone. My gut feeling says by beta 3, but let's see. For 23.4, I'm thinking of skipping the first few betas.

Don't know if this thread would be useful to someone here.

The public release of iOS 18.3, 17.3, and 16.3 were released pretty quickly after the holiday break, being released in the 4th week of January.

It’s possible we’re testing the revamped Siri by February. And although Apple typically doesn't release betas the Monday after the holidays, I wouldn't rule it out. Apple has been unpredictable lately.

Allegedly it's out now...
It’s just a generous „we need content“ article without anything new.
Beta is coming soon, yes that’s true and everyone should know it :)
We will see if it comes today in a couple of hours.

Wouldn’t mind a 26.2.1 this week as well…. Last year 18.2.1 came the day before 18.3 beta 2.
