Starting April 28, 2026, apps and games uploaded to App Store Connect need to meet the following minimum requirements:
iOS and iPadOS apps must be built with the iOS 26 & iPadOS 26 SDK or later

WhatsApp, Discord, Reddit devs like: ok we still have more than 2 months. Easy.

I have this gut feeling we are getting a news release tomorrow morning and the RC at the normal launch time later in the day. Apple seems to like Wednesday news releases it seems.

does using the 26 SDK guarantee to use 26 UI? (Floating tabs/keyboard)

My only other thinking aside from new hardware as to why this update is taking a while is that this will be the final public release before Apple starts F1 coverage on Apple TV, so there are a lot of changes being made to support additional multicam streams from driver cams and possibly other things in the TV app.

So let's cut the "today is the day" hopium and try to answer the real question which is also related so please don't delete this: When would Apple release the new macbook? Today? This week? Next week?

The one thing I found interesting in the newsroom was they outlined XCode being available to dev with a full release "coming soon". You would think if we are close to a public release, they would give a date. As mentioned above, this is a odd cycle for a software update that really doesn't bring anything significant to the table.

I just want an update to fix my location services. Location services keeps crashing and causing apps that request location on launch to hang/crash. Location services eventually restarts and I can launch the app normally. Happens randomly on all apps that use location.

Filed feedback back on beta one and it's still open with more than 10 reports.

The reason for “delay” in releasing iOS 26.3 might also be linked to the fact that by now there has been quite a bit of buzz about “better Google-powered Siri” in iOS 26.4. Apple might just need to get more time getting iOS 26.4 Beta 1 right, so they do not hurry with 26.3 release either?

I think if that were the case, they would just take longer to roll out the first beta for 26.4. It shouldn’t theoretically have any impact on the 26.3 cycle. We’ve had similar such scenarios where a public version released and then it was like 2-3 weeks before we got the first beta for the next version. So I don’t know that they’d be dragging their feet on 26.3 to “get more time” for 26.4. But who knows, I guess it’s a possibility. Personally, I’m still thinking we may get RC this week for 26.3. If not, I think RC next week, and public release week after, with 26.4 on its heels. 🙂👍🏻

Gurman reported that Apple would demonstrate the new Siri as part of the announcement so that sounds like a media event to me.

Coupled with that the 16e was announced last February 19th I think we’ll also see the 17e and new Macs then as well. I’d guess the 16th or 17th is likely. 26.4 B1 available after the event.
