iOS 26 Speculation Thread

And if they need more betas, the sooner the first beta is released, the more feedback they'll get on potential bugs and the more time they'll have to fix them before the official release.

I agree, they have been working on it for a bit. I lean towards a non pattern following update cycle as I thought more. This is feeling like as heavy of a potential lift as the 26.0 release. I could see if they release as much as rumored that this cycle might be a deviation from the pattern.

Really curious if the new Siri is part of 26.4 beta1 already. I could also image it will be added in a later beta... but we will see.
I am happy to read what you all will find out. For 26.4 I won't be brave enough to jump into the first betas.

If that happens, I'd be surprised, to be honest. Because they've probably been working on 26.4 for a while now, and because we're not going to see everything that was announced but not released at WWDC 24. The bulk of the features, and perhaps the most exciting ones, will come with iOS 27, and if things continue this way, they'll end up releasing 26.4 a week before WWDC 26 haha

So, basically what Gurman is saying is that we'll most likely go 2 weeks without a beta? 23.3 is most likely being released this week, but then no 23.4 betas until the week of the 23rd? Seems unlikely.

I would guess 26.3 public today, beta 1 for 26.4 go fish LOL. I would think this week or at least early next week. But seems to be a lot of rumors Apple wants to show something off before the first beta. I would not be surprised until the week of the 23rd if that rumor is correct.

My guess is some sort of public demo next week and the beta the week after

I wish they would hurry up! They’ve been dragging their feet for so long on this Siri update it is getting very frustrating. Mainly because they have allegedly delayed a lot of hardware because Siri needs to be ready first (the new Apple TV, new rumored homepod with a screen, etc). I’d like to know what was going through their head a year and a half ago when they were promising this would be ready spring 2025. Were they lying or did they just catastrophically fail? Either way they’ve had an entire year to get their **** together so hopefully this will be a good update.

Just last year, we went several weeks between 18.3 and 18.4. This is such a big update, I’m sure Apple will want to take a couple weeks to polish it up before seeding the first beta.
 
It wouldn't surprise me if the delay on the x.4 betas last year was them having to yank out all the AI features from the first beta when they realised it wouldn't ship in time 😂
