Mine just constantly say "To use live translation with Airpods, you'll need to download languages to this iPhone" They are downloaded...

does anyone know if this translates swear words or whether Apple is forcing us to go PG-13 again?
what sort of bologna is this? Apple wants a clean environment and can do whatever the ducking hill they want. I swear these ice holes and their mucking opinions ;)

But yeah it'll make for interesting translations for many tourists looking for some "late hour fun"

Question for those who so far reported that it works well, even translating spoken word played on TV: How do we know that the translation was correct?
Yes, that is the problem, isn't it?

Unfortunately, at the moment, Live Translation doesn't include any language I know well enough to check translation accuracy. I have been playing around with ChatGPT and Grok to translate between two languages I'm fluent in, and can say that they're accurate enough for casual everyday conversation. Whether Live Translation is at the same level as these AIs, who knows?

One thing I did notice was that Live Translation will sometimes mess up "hearing" the original language. When that happens, of course the translation will be messed up.

So no, Live Translation won't be 100% accurate. It will be good enough for a lot of circumstances, but you should be on the alert for any mishearings and mistranslations.
