My App Store app isn’t already on my Home Screen. Always done it from the App Library. Wasn’t doing this in previous betas.

Yeah this is a new bug specific to Beta 5. Apple has already acknowledged that there’s a fix coming in future betas.

After using DB5 for several days, this is my short resume:

+ LG elements look much better now, almost 3D, well done! The new icons are sleek too.

- The non-responsive uppermost section of Safari pages on iPadOS (try using the horizontal navigation bar at the top of apple.com) and non-responsive auxiliary Maps widget in CarPlay are the only two nagging issues for my setup.

Ive got the unresponsive stuff in Safari on my iPad as well (luckily not on the iPhone), but I’ve also got an unresponsive area at the top of one of my frequently played games (Raid Rush), which includes that all-important pause button.

I got tired of fighting with it and tried to back out of the beta program, it i cant get it to restore from an older icloud backup. In fact after another attempt, it didn't restore anything from the most recent icloud backup, either - after going through the whole setup process AGAIN, im stuck with a brand new iPad.

Edit: After three tries, I finally got it to restore from the latest icloud backup. It’s re-installing all the apps now. Unfortunately it’s still on the beta OS, not the one I restored with from my Mac. So I’m right back to where I was earlier today, complete with the beta bugs. Other than the very annoying unresponsive buttons and things, everything else seems to be working as it should on iPad, iPhone, and Watch.

Delete Youtube and install it again. Solved the problem for me.

Tried that. It did reset some settings like appearance, i had hoped it was a black on black text bug or something, but unfortunately no change.

Don’t see the point here because iOS 27 will be even more polished then 26.6.
It might be only your feeling with the higher .x release version or probably a fear against the release versions but this year it seems to be all fine with the .0 release in September.

Other than minor annoyances, 27 feels like a final release. Since B1. And I do like the new Siri.

I’ve read through the entirety of the beta 5 thread. A show stopping bug like not being able to tap the very top or bottom of a browser window or the other CarPlay bugs is not great. If they can squash those, yeah it may be as good. Right now, it absolutely isn’t. 26.6 squashed a LOT of bugs.

26.6 performance is a bit better than 27B5 from my testing. Memory management miles better. The LG is definitely uglier and you have to live with those god awful moving borders and ugly icons, but they ported a lot of the improvements of 27 over to 26.

I’ve had this on all iOS 27 beta versions but I don’t see anyone else talking about it. Does anyone else have a persistent stutter when opening apps? iPhone 16 pro max here.

In other words, you can't close the currently running app. You can still interact with it, but not swipe it away. I need to lock and unlock the phone before it works, and it usually takes two presses of the button to lock the phone, as the first press just gets rid of the Siri popup which seems to never go away promptly.

Best is to let the phone charge on a cable over night. This will bring the fastest progress with the indexing.
Mine also was gone this time after only one day, without showing a progress %.

There are two indexings, the first after the update (which was finished very quickly) AND SOMETIMES a second that displays the progress %.

I have never seen a difference between leaving plugged in or not, they happen very quickly in any case for me.

You also can’t swipe Siri away when playing in PiP mode. Or Netflix in landscape mode.
According to Apple, it’s working as designed.

I think Apple pretty much closes (internally) feedbacks that they've marked as such.

Assuming you think it is one, I'd create a new one and word it differently, to try and ensure it really does sound like a bug.

Just woke up now with 80% which is normal because I have the battery limiter set to that. I did a restart and the phone somehow went up to 97%. Never seen this one before, happened on iPhone 15 plus with 92% BH.

Are you sure it was on 80% before you restarted? From time to time it will do a full charge even if the limit is set to 80%. Could it have been on 97% when you restarted?

I did file it as a bug and indeed made it sound like one. But no bueno.

Maybe I’ll drop Craig an email about this terrible design choice.

Indeed, I’m finding the red zone pictured is unresponsive to touch.

If I can’t touch the lowest part of a button (or search field) below the red zone I have to pinch to zoom larger to tap.

I think I found a workaround for this issue.

I tested it in a few apps, and it seems to work very reliably.

1. Press the button you want to tap.
2. While still holding it, tap another button. (This button must also be unresponsive.)
3. Release the first button.
4. The first button should now register the tap.

Another possible workaround: If the button does not normally perform an action when held down, try holding it for about 1.5 seconds and then releasing it. This may cause the button action to trigger.

I also confirmed the same symptom (and the same workaround) happens with Safari tab selection, so this doesn’t seem to be limited to a specific app — it might be a system-wide touch event issue.

(English is not my first language, so I used machine translation and proofreading tools for this post. Sorry if anything sounds unnatural.)

Yep, pretty sure that it was on 80% before the restart and 97% after. When using the phone while it was above 80%, the percentage wouldn't update as the battery went down unless I restarted. After that, it seems to have gone back to normal.

Thank you! The zoom does work. I also installed Makeover to give that a try. That does seem to be working on web pages, but not in the game app where I’m also experiencing this problem.

This, however, is not doing anything for me in Safari, but it does seem to work in Raid Rush, at least partially. Sometimes it takes a few attempts. I haven’t seen this issue in Safari tab selection, and the unresponsive issue doesn’t happen in other browsers (DuckDuckGo and Firefox). It seems to be random where it does occur, but when it does occur, it’s constant, and it’s a real pain in the butt. But thanks for this workaround.

I’ve got this issue as well on both of my iPads. Hopefully, they will re-appear after the re-indexing gets a little further along….

I just installed beta 5. Where did they move the Setting screen for Dark Mode? I still have the toggle in Control Center but cannot find the actual setting screen.
