As Phil Schiller would say, "Can't innovate anymore my A**!!!"

Credit to Apple for figuring out a way for fans to justify buying multiple phones. 🙄

I know why you need this.

Have your primary phone with all your info with your main esim

Have a secondary phone with very minimal of your info with the same number through iphone handoff.

Leave your main phone at home, bring your secondary phone when you are traveling to countries that require you hand over your devices for customs inspection when you travel. You can pretend this is your dedicated device.

This feature will save lives in this increasingly incredibly pointless global state of affairs that we now live in.
Yeah but won't te phone you bring be obviously a handoff SIM?

All 12 people who use the same number on 2 phones will love this.

How about addressing bugs? Isn’t that what 27 is meant to be? Optimizing the OS?

How about this bug. Been present since iOS26 betas. Never addressed:

Very useful feature, looking forward to it.

Use case: do not buy a second phone, but use your newest iPhone as normal, with all your apps, everything. Keep an older iPhone that is your knockaround phone: just phone number, music, maybe email. No passwords, banking, work apps. Very useful for a day at the beach, traveling, out for a run...

This.

Pennsylvania's new hands-free driving law, known as Paul Miller's Law where you cannot hold a phone or support it with any part of your body while driving or it overheating etc.
You guys could just hold a phone while driving, and that doesn’t affect your ability to quickly avoid an accident etc?

How is that only being implemented now lol

I would love to have an iPhone 13 mini for the weekends and the upcoming ultra for weekdays. I love the idea of having a small phone that I am less tempted to use when I am with my family and away from work. That said, this probably won't come to the 13 mini in which case I have no use for it. 😆
If the mini is upgraded to iOS 27, seems like it would work. Now I have been forwarding my number to my burner prepaid phone..

This is neat. I'll be able to share a business line across two devices so when I'm with clients reception can answer this line and handle the call without call transfer. Reception will also be able to handle any messages from clients on whatsapp business.

I’m the use case. I’ll be using both the 18 Pro Max and the Fold together. The Pro Max as my “camera” and durable phone, the Fold for everything else.
If you need two phones to have your needs or desires met, it could indicate a failure on Apple's part. Why can't they make the best iPhone with no compromises? For $2,000+, in my opinion, you should get everything you want in a phone without having to shell out an additional $1,600+ just so you can have that one other feature that Apple couldn't figure out how to squeeze into your first device.

This is obviously laying the groundwork for the triumphant return of the Mini. Switch between your mini and pro max whenever the mood strikes.

Now this may result in me actually getting an iPhone ultra. I would use my 17 pro Max for spatial video, the telephoto lens, and dive bars. I will use the ultra for everything else.

Would it work for international travel? I can see this being useful for that. It would be good to have my phone number temporarily on a cheap phone without anything sensitive or personal on it so if lost or searched by customs, no one gets access to banking information (or my pron bookmarks 🤣).

This sounds sick.

I’m softly planning on replacing my iPhone 13 Mini with an Air 2 next spring… if I can hot-swap to my Mini on “shorts days” during the summer, I’ll do it!

They're clearly setting things up for you to actually buy two iPhones. Like a Pro & Air combo, or Pro & Fold.

I thought I was in the zero-patience shill minority who wants to carry the Fold and Pro at once because the Fold "doesn't have the camera capabilities yet" but your post just made me realize it's going to be like this permanently, Apple will encourage this multi-iPhone setup. There is no "yet", the Ultra will never have state of the art cameras, they want to normalize two iPhones with ""power users"". Pro is your camera, Fold is your "productivity" device. Film on the Pro, edit on the Fold. Go swimming with the Pro, look at the photos you took later on the Fold. etc. etc. Like iPad, just not.

Extremely unlikely prediction but what if they don't even call it an iPhone -- to really drive the point home about it being positioned in your life as a different kind of device.

Not sure how many people are aware of this but this is already possible with Apple Watch, you can have at least two Apple Watches paired to your iPhone at any given time and hotswap between them. Wouldn't be surprised if we see an Apple Watch Air at some point: ultra slim, so-so battery life, but positioned as the second watch for Watch Ultra users to wear for date nights, formalwear, etc. lol

I love this so much. I wanted to keep my orange iPhone since that is surely a color they won't release too often, but I'm also pretty set on getting the folding iPhone. Think it may make a lot of sense to keep both.

Now create an Apple ecosystem version of the Light Phone. I want to be able to use my iPhone during business hours and then hand off my number to essentially a glorified dumb phone with a completely stripped down version of iOS. Maps, Apple Pay, phone, and text all in a phone the size of (or smaller than) the original iPhone. Even better, put it in a flip phone.

Where was this last year? I would have loved to have an iPhone Air available to use without having to daily it.

I’m assuming if I keep the other phone on and connected to WiFi, it will keep most stuff synced up?

Well, as a T-Mobile customer, I switch between my iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air every few days, so this will be a nice feature.

Guys this is a GAME CHANGER for me!!! I have two phones a 17pro max and a s26u. When the z fold 8 Ultra released i got fever to trade the s26u for the for z fold ultra. Days after i received the fold I found out about this feature iphone trade off feature on Reddit a month ago, I immediately contacted t-force. They approved me to hold on to my s26U that they let me out of my contract as the trade for the z fold ultra i just received. i asked if i could return the z fold ultra when the iPhone was announced giving me the option to learn more about the feature. Now that this is a bit more confirmed. I think im going to do the 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra and see if i can drop my second line all together on t-mobile. i will probably trade my 17 pro max w T-Mobile for the ultra and buy an unlocked 18promax from google Fi as they have interesting no phone trade promos for the iphone! Im so excited!!!
