Once you start typing in the text field, the mic icon immediately becomes the send arrow. Then, once you deploy your message, the send arrow immediately changes back to the mic icon. Same is true for the audio message icon if you have dictation disabled. So how exactly does one "accidentally" press either of these icons? Either you deliberately press it to dictate a new text message (or create a new audio message) . . . or you simply don’t touch the icon because you don't need it.

I have never once hit the mic icon by accident. Not because I'm ultra-cautious but because there's no use case I can think of that would cause it to happen. In any case, I imagine this new option will be greatly appreciated by those who feel they need it.

OMG thank you, Apple. I had this mic activated every single time I would put my phone back into my pocket if I had just talked to somebody on text message. I figured out that the fabric of my pants was activating the mic and I was always seeing a long recording when I took my phone back out of my pocket again thank you Apple
