iPhone 11 Pro Max here still on iOS 18 which already runs about 40% slower than iOS 17 did, no 26 for me, but if reports of 27 come in to be at least as fast as 18 if not better, then I might update. 94% battery health after 5 years of usage, haven’t seen any other iPhone beat that.

can't find a word neither about what devices are supported on tvOS 27 nor the OS 27 for HomePod

which makes it very suspicious after the Apple Watch support drop ... because that could mean only one gen of Apple TV could be supported - the ATV 4K 3rd gen. - as drop of some A12 devices (iPad Air 3, mini 5 ...) could suggest that ATV 4K 2nd gen. is being dropped

and HomePods ... oh boy ... the OG HomePod has A8 chip ... the mini has S5 and HomePod 2nd gen has S7

and? 4 years for a watch is impressive.

newsflash: local AI needs more memory. S9 has more memory than s8, bro
4 years on an $800 watch is average at best these days, not impressive. Flagship phones are getting 6–7 years now.

And it’s not just raw memory. The S9/S10 have meaningfully better Neural Engines. That’s what actually matters for the local AI features Apple keeps pushing. They could’ve kept supporting the Ultra 1 longer, but they chose not to.

That’s literally the definition of planned obsolescence.

AI wasn't even useful 4 years ago so no.

Except if you don't have the memory, you can't even run the models. While an older neural engine would simply run it slower.

Literally false.

.

Ultra 1 was released 2022 which means chip designers would have nearly finished the chip design in 2020. ChatGPT 3 was released in 2020.

You're literally wrong.

Keep telling yourself it’s about memory and not about moving $800 units every few years. I am done here.

Incredible that not only does my iPhone 12 Pro Max still work, it works fast and gets the latest updates. You can't criticize Apple of not supporting their devices long term. This thing is so old, I get people asking me if it's a new iPhone 😂

Of course Siri AI will only work on 17+ (that slide was up for about 0.2 seconds).

Translation: We can't be sued (again) because Apple AI runs on 16+, and our newly named Siri AI (aka new Apple AI) needs 17+.

The on-device model only works with iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro/Max.

Siri AI works on everything they said supports "Apple Intelligence" which is iPhone 15 Pro and up, M1 and up. That one uses cloud servers, presumably Private Cloud Compute (though they didn't use that term, interestingly.)

This is pretty much what I expected, and why I was ok buying a 17 Pro Max. They always do this, the stuff they demo at WWDC works on the highest end model of the current phone, and that's it. The stuff in the Fall almost all works on the as-of-this-moment previous model, often but not always because of new hardware.

They were still a bit dodgy about it, because while the iPhone did get a lot of support, they dropped a LOT of models from the other categories.

Thank you Apple for giving us one last iOS version, hoping that it gives us a good sendoff with a lot of stability and speed. 😛

Yes but pour one out for my iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen. And presumably my HomePod Minis and every Apple Watch in the house except the 11.

Oh and don't forget that forever cursed MacBook Air (Spring 2020). AKA the last Intel MBA released 7 months before the M1 they went on to sell for six years. That ran like a hot potato from day one.
