I own Apple silicon macbooks, mac mini, ipad etc... run an SE iPhone because I can't stand large phones and, at this point, I'm struggling. As of the latest updates, every product has an obvious issue now. There's not a single piece of software I can think of that works as intended or doesn't have a competing product I'd prefer. Literally the only thing keeping me as a customer is the bother with moving.

I know. Why does this require a yearly release. Just spend some cash and get it done.
It’s annoying I agree.

Of course I update to a major new version the second that it’s released, hoping that this year won’t be a ‘bad’ year. And this year has been a very bad year.

Google has much more of a devops approach where bug fixes and optimisations are released as soon as possible.

But it can lead got more of a piecemeal approach with anything UI related, where their apps - and the os - might update say a menu using the new UI and leave the rest with the old UI. And so on.

It can make using android seem very disjointed. Then throw in the push / pull approach where the phone vendor’s apps are playing a tug of war with Google’s own equivalent apps

But generally Google is better at fixing the ship whilst it’s out at sea than Apple is.

However the vast majority of android users might not get to see those bug fixes anytime soon, due to the fragmented android ecosystem…

But still - Apple could learn a lot of Google. And vice versa!

I wonder whether “Design Tweaks” means they’ll change the Liquid Glass appearance in some way, or if it’s more about fixing some of the usability issues.
I think the latter. Apple isn’t going to pull all the work they did on Liquid Glass. Apple doesn’t admit to mistakes.

I do suspect though that 27’s ‘tinted’ ui appearance option, will largely placate those who prefer the iOS 18 look (although elements will still be more rounded and float etc).

What about macOS? We need a Snow Leopard so bad.

Apple really needs to Snow Leopard across all operating systems every 5 years, twice per decade. Everyone puts their head down for an entire year fixing every stupid little bug, every dumb design decision, every quirk or kink or odd behavior, nip it and ship it. Go back to core principles of good design, solid performance, and locked down security. Nothing is off the table, all ideas welcome, if it's a good idea run with it. Give their teams the freedom to explore and make the products better from the foundation up.

The work they did in Snow Leopard set up macOS to be a performant and dominant operating system for many years. The ingenuity that can come from allowing employees to take a breath and explore completely new solutions to improving their infrastructure cannot be understated. Any time I've been afforded that opportunity in the workplace has been some of the most enjoyable and productive time for me as a developer, with the benefits leading to surprising discoveries and optimizations well beyond the intended scope.

Fix Photos and Music. Give a possibility to choose to stay with a design instead of forcing a new useless one.
Music has now 5 different ways to access the play, forward stop buttons, but those are missing where the actual title is to be found. Command L always brought you back to the current title in the main title list. Gone.

The menubar at the bottom in Music is utterly useless and hardly visible. Across the system make the software work with hardware as it's suppose to. What use is it to have rocket ship hardware (r/w speeds up in the sky) but software never uses a fraction of that?

Apple, you've had already very good solutions in the past, worked for years! But with this release, some decisions regarding the UI design just got incredibly bad.

This MacMini is a great machine. Wouldn't return it. But please, fix the UI.

During the upcoming software update cycle, I have a few requests for Apple. I hope they address performance issues and make design improvements, but I also want more from them. I want Apple to fundamentally rethink audio communication between humans. I envision a phone call that is more immersive, enjoyable, and productive. I want Apple to continue developing native apps for visionOS, but they should be developed by Apple. For instance, the News app is not optimized for visionOS and needs to be rebuilt. I feel like Apple has forgotten to prioritize the premium experience they want us to have. Their efforts have been mediocre, and I would love to see strong improvements in design and usability. The health app and fitness plus service also need rethinking.

I think that visionOS efforts should guide the rest of Apple’s operating system strategies. I believe Apple will have significant leverage by optimizing how devices and services work together. For example, there’s an opportunity for HomePods and visionOS to work together, and for Apple Watch and visionOS to work together.

Spatial computing offers numerous opportunities for new hardware, services, and breakthrough technology innovations that can enhance customer engagement. I would love to see Apple take gaming and productivity seriously on visionOS. There should be compelling reasons for people to use spatial computing devices beyond just watching movies or shows.

Apple should be prepared for their AI challenges to not be resolved by the new version of Siri. They should also be prepared to accelerate innovation deployment. Customers are eager for the next big thing that simplifies their tasks and boosts productivity.

It’s the exact same rumor every year. It would be nice if they actually delivered these bugfixes and optimizations some time. Even better if we didn’t have to wait a year and new major OS version to fix bugs (while introducing new ones).
If iOS 27 will support all devices as iOS 26 did, then it is all ok. If not do your homework in iOS 26.5 and .6 or .7.
And I think it should be more valid for macOS as it will remove Intel support. Then all the fixes should be done in macOS 26 not 27.

I like Liquid Glass. I don't like the battery impact of it.
Ultimately, I don't feel that the aesthetic improvement of LG (since there is no functional improvement) is worth the battery life penalty of it.
Yeah. They add each year tons of background processes that tax RAM, CPU, GPU so alder HW stops being capable to handle that to the Apple standard. Of course, we need some of those to get new functionality but I do not think that Liquid Glass is worth that. What new functionality it got? compare heavy taxing HW? They could bring it to 20th iPhone anniversary or at least in version 27 for 50th apple anniversary. It is just desire to differentiate from so called "competition".

Knew we were getting a Snow Leopard-style release next.
We’ve been getting releases with little to no new features every year for at least a decade. The only difference with snow leopard is that despite the meagre number of changes the code quality and polish has only worsened. Apple is just not good at software anymore. It matters not how few new features there will be, iOS 27 will probably be just as unstable, buggy and inconsistent.

I don’t want much. I’m a simple man. How about start with having my notifications sync between all of my Apple devices? My Watch says I have 32 unread messages, my Mac says 6 unread and my phone has 0 unread messages.
I'm afraid this sounds like a new feature: Notification Sync™

I originally joined the Aple ecosystem, and then stuck with it, because of the stability and reliability it provided - not because of flashy new features being released each year. The latest round of new OSes have been so bad, even my elderly relatives have been commenting unprompted on how things don't work as well this year.

I don't particularly like Liquid Glass design, but can live with it. But Apple, please stop breaking things. This was the whole reason I moved away from Microsoft in the first place. A Snow Leopard-style update is sorely needed this year.
