I don’t give a crap about any new features—I just want the existing features to work consistently!

Although I do wonder if more people started fresh, if it would fix a lot of the reported problems. I just spent the past several days doing a fresh install and setup of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, and macOS 26. It’s insane how much smoother things are running and how all of my annoying issues are gone—for now, at least. We’ll see how this goes! Honestly probably should do tvOS too, though it’s not nearly as bad.
It might, but a large part of Apple's sales schtick is how their stuff just works - from installing apps to upgrading devices. So they either need to follow through with it, or stop promoting any sort of seamless experience.

Considering iOS 27 will be more of a snow leopard release it doesn’t take a “genius” writing for Bloomberg to figure this out.

can we get an option to create a separate partition like Samsung secure folder and / or pixel private space?

Also can we get ability to change the default photo manager / photo picker?

thank you

I've spent a lot of time studying and working on modern OS kernels. Given how long it would take to make certain key changes, how impactful they would be (and so require an extreme amount of planning and testing), and how much time they would need after the formal deprecation of (most) x86 support . . . we could be looking at some very important capabilities and changes that have been made to other modern OS kernels (in Linux, *BSD, and Windows) and other key OS components in recent years. Just the general cleanup and moving even more drivers to userland would pay serious dividends in security, maintainability, and extensibility. I'd really like to see apfs take a huge leap, too.

Perhaps not "product sexy", but quite foundational. And it has to be done well, given the install base.

Why is this even news when it was already known that 27 would focus more on QC and refinement? Of course the next one would have more new features.

I'd like if they went for the "snow leopard" update in every major update from now on. iOS is a mature product and every change feels more or less forced in some way.

I don't want more settings and options. Just a super fast consistent OS that looks reasonably good.

Yeah, me too, especially on macOS. But on iPadOS there are still features that would be interesting to be added, a better Finder, I mean Files experience, and overall an improvement of the System window management.

I mean iOS 27 isn’t going to be only about bug fixes, stability and performance. They are still going to introduce quite a few features, including the new Siri. So… maybe we could get this approach in future iterations? Hopefully Ternus will pay more attention to software than currently Apple does.

In other Words……DELAYED again.
That’s what I’m thinking… maybe they delay the GPT-style Siri and iOS 27 just adds the possibility of using Claude or Gemini as an alternative to ChatGPT… I mean, I think Apple wants it to run locally (at least on the newest devices) and iPhone 18 will probably stick to 8GB of RAM because of the prices. Maybe Apple wants to wait until the 12GB of RAM are the minimum in the new devices.

Got news for you: there are a ton of new features. They might not be ones you care about. We are getting all the Apple Intelligence changes and all the multitasking changes for foldables. It’s going to have a ton of new bugs and be another repeat of the same crunch culture we get every year. Nothing is going to change on the bug fix front. They might do some code slimming to optimize things for devices with less RAM, but that will probably create new bugs too.
as you might have noticed; I commented on the changes for foldables myself...
And I have hope; snow leopard was super buggy in it's .0 release because of all the under-the-hood work, but by the time the 10.6.8 release came out it was the most stable, most nimble, best OS there ever was and has been.
