I see many comments here stating that iOS 29 or iOS 30 will be even more significant but wait for iOS 50 which will be of a completely different magnitude!

Honestly how do we even know if IOS28 will be more significant if we havent even used IOS27 yet? IOS27 was supposed to be a SnowLeopard update according to Gurman and now closer to wwdc we don't even know if that is true. Gurman lately is more spray&pray than actual rumors it looks like. You can keep making "rumors and leaks" and lock it behind a paywall in order to make money. But how many of those rumors are actually true? Who keeps track of his hits and misses?

Let's first see how IOS27 will turn out before we say the next version will be "more significant".

Everything that contains Siri became quite insignificant to follow up on. Would loathing be better word in this case? If Siri would be a standalone brand in the wild, it would be dead. Or at least it would remain in a permanent intensive care unit for the time being. So iOS 27. Nothing to look forward to, unless they create another snow leopard moment. Who knows...

The outside display could be iOS.
Then the entire file systems of both os’es and apps need to be reworked to be able to share the same files between the iOS version of an app and the iPadOS one and to sync the state of those apps in real time whenever you open or close the device etc.

Maybe they'll find a way to make OS useable with a single thumb? The last phone to have any UX innovation was the Palm Pre.

It would be nice to keep additional AI help for SIRI.. but then turn AI off for everything else.

I can’t wait to have Siri tell me something like “Due to unusually high usage, I am currently unable to help” just like the big AI names out there…

Maybe this time they will finally allow Mac users to set the Finder window size to what we want and it’s saved that way?
So that after powering off the computer and back on the Finder still stays at the size that you want, not they?

There's an article like this every year. "Looking forward to the thing that's one week away? Well, the one coming out in one week+one year will have even more (X)"

While we are still a week away from Apple unveiling iOS 27, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has just shared the first rumor regarding iOS 28.

In his Power On newsletter today, he said that iOS 28 will be "far more significant" than iOS 27.

"Next year's '28' releases are already shaping up to be far more significant than the '27' updates," wrote Gurman.

iOS 28 is codenamed "Bell," while macOS 28 is "Poppy," he said.

iOS 28 would be the first version available on Apple's redesigned 20th-anniversary iPhone, which is expected to be released in September next year.

iOS 27 will seemingly be focused on a revamped Siri and additional Apple Intelligence features. The update will include the long-awaited personalized version of Siri, complete with on-screen awareness and better understanding of your personal context. For example, at WWDC 2024, Apple showed a user asking Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation based on info retrieved from the Mail and Messages apps.

A dedicated Siri app will allow you to have back-and-forth conversations with Siri in text or voice modes, similar to other chatbot apps like ChatGPT. In addition, iOS 27 is expected to add a "Search or Ask" feature to the Dynamic Island.

Beyond that, iOS 27 has been likened to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, in that sense that the update will apparently be especially focused on bug fixes and stability improvements. If so, it would not be too surprising if iOS 28 is more significant.

Like iOS 26 was supposed to be? Still waiting for all those features...

Why…? A foldable isnt going to be running 2 instances of the OS, just switching display modes…
