iOS 4.2 Beta 2 is up on the developer site. Posted: September 28, 2010
Build: 8C5101c. Along with iTunes Beta 10.1

What's the deal with NOT posting the link? I saw all kinds of links to Apple's servers for the 4.2b1 release, not 3rd party servers. Sometimes people are tight asses around here!

It downloaded really fast for me from the developer site. But I'm not installing it due to the Wifi bug I encountered in beta 1. I'll wait for Macrumors forums to give it the green light first.

Oh, I don't know, maybe it has to do with agreeing to a legal agreement as a registered developer? Like maybe getting sued into oblivion by Apple? Just a thought. :D

You cant install it anyway unless your device's UDID has been registered with Apple in the first place, so I dont really see the harm in a 3rd party download link.

But its Macrumors. They're pretty high profile so I guess they play it safe.

Ah, yeah they're gonna get you and everybody else who provides a link that will temporarily screw you if you install and don't have a registered UDID. BTW, businesses can have one dev account with one person who can access it, yet multiple people running their betas. Seems that sharing those files internally would be a violation as well, but that seems silly too. I just have to scoff at the apple fear (and the developer bravado).

Actually you can if know how. There are several threads on this.

Once again, rather than discussing where to obtain links from can we discuss what bugs have been fixed that were present in beta 1? The wifi bug caused me to downgrade so I wish to hear from users of beta 2 if that bug was removed or not. Please do tell.

Well if you need it so bad you could send $99 of your own money and get all the access you want. But I forget that most of the posters here just seem to want to get everything handed to them for free. And if you had read some of the threads here you would know how to install without a registered UDID.

Name one.

I believe they were on quickpwn's site. I know I downloaded mine from a link and didn't need access for beta 1. Just had to get my UDID registered in order to activate after downloading.

The release notes don't really say much as far as bug fixes. No way to tell without installing and testing.

New multitasking animation: slick!

oh and the moderator is doing his job =) so lets talk about something on topic.

the new animation looks good, though i still like the old one oh and is that a new droplet wallpaper that is default, looks so much better than the stupid iphone 4 one blown up to scale

so i'm talking about his image, i guess it might be just one they are using but it looks so much better than the old one

I couldn't resist. Beta 2 working awesome so far. Few bugs with third party apps. Twitter loses its memory. And skee ball hd does not work right. Pages seems to be working good though.

Install was successful, but now it's putting my billion apps from my backup on there. First thing I plan to check is if 3G access came back and how stable wifi is. The wifi for me was quirky in beta 1, but a soft reset always fixed it.

Wish their release notes were a little more detailed... didn't say anything about what was new/fixed on this release.

Beta 2 runs extremely fast for me. iPad seems the scream compared to beta 1.

you don't have to do a full restore. instead of hitting option+restore, you just hit option+update... takes much less time
