you don't have to do a full restore. instead of hitting option+restore, you just hit option+update... takes much less time

DOH - did not know that. Thanks! That'll save me about 20 minutes next time. :)

3G account access is back, yay! Wifi started right up and recognized my access point (unlike beta1). Things seem quite snappy -- but I've only had it going for a few minutes. We'll see how it behaves over the next week. Better than beta1, so at least we're moving in the right direction.

I got fed up of that wifi issue in beta 1. I'm looking forward to your findings in regards to wifi in this build - if stable I would most likely take the plunge to obtain it.
One query: this build has new animation for multi-tasking, correct? Is there lag or is the switch smooth like on the iPod Touch [4G is very smooth for me] or iPhone 4 [never used it so I don't know how smooth but should be if 4G iPod touch is]. Do tell. -- Did some research and indeed animations seem smooth.

Second Query: Is the side slide switch still the mute switch?

All betas will need registered UDID

Not true, you can do shift+update without a UDID registration... only need the UDID if you do a restore... but update only, instead of restore, doesn't give you a proper clean slate to start from, and thus can cause bugs given that these builds are designed to be applied as restores, not updates.

Personally, doing the restore option (my UDID is registered) I have had very few issues at all with Beta1, am downloading Beta2 as we speak... my WiFi has only messed up 1 time in two weeks, and it was easily fixed by turning off WiFi and back on... then again, I don't count 3rd party apps not working, given that those have to be updated to support iOS 4.X I have yet to have a single issue with an app made for both the iPad and iPhone w/iOS 4.X

Well on Beta1 - my iPad did not even find my wifi adapter. "...Wifi Adapter not Found" something like that kept coming up. It got annoying really.

Beta 2 installed. WSJ app is working properly again. All mail, including third party, is working. Seems to be pretty snappy as well.

iPad 4.2beta2 great!just updated

:D

mail crash fixed, utube change direction effect fixed...more beautiful keyboard with shadow, new multiple effect, feel very fast, worth try.;)

I agree so far so good. no complaints.

Air Video still doesnt work for me. Same spinning wheel as beta 1. but im glad mail is fixed that was the big prob.

Odd. The Remote app isn't recognizing iTunes now. I've got b2 on the iPad and 10.1b5 for iTunes. The Remote works fine on the iPhone.

Mute button now working. View account is now visible but not the apn.
Illegal sim out of luck but I managed again to work with Unlockit.co.nz

Just installed BETA 2 with no issues without a dev ID! Was there always a brightness shortcut in the Task Manager bar when you swipe right??

That's my favorite thing so far!

Were there since beta1

Yep I see that now. That truly does away with one of the only reasons I jailbroke my iPad. SBSettings to change the brightness.

I love the multitasking.

Shame Air Video is still broken. :(

And New York Times crosswords doesn't work either! :(

Gaaah! :(

Bug that caused the Mail App to crash when send photos from the Photo App has been resolved.

Additionally Album Tracks are now once again in Track order when you you browse albums in the iPod App.

Vlc

VLC - avi files have sound but no picture. I think this has been an issue since beta 1 and it's up to VLC to update.

Apple really has to implement a better way of organizing apps (and folders) in iTunes.

Same with Air Video. :(

MUCH smoother screen transition from the home screen to the Spotlight screen from 3.2.

For what it's worth, I can't live without my NYT Crosswords, so went back to 3.2.1, but I'm definitely excited for 4.2
