downloading but waiting to update 3G

I'm downloading too. Hopefully will resolve the last few issues with iPad. Think I'll hold off on updating my iPhone 3G though. I don't want to risk going back to to 4.0 slowness. :-D

I'm not a developer but the yearly MAJOR releases (2.0, 3.0, 4.0) usually were released 7 to 10 days after the GM was released. Since this is just a minor update, I would assume it could be even quicker. I would guess no more than a week. Or possibly tomorrow since it's a Tuesday haha.

Now if I can just find a download link online somewhere (not from Apple).

With or without a developer account? What happens when the final release comes out?

Although Apple could always change it in the future, currently their GM builds are basically identical to what they release for the general public. So if you download and install the GM, then you don't do anything when they officially release 4.2, because you will already have it.

That's what I thought. I tried the ealier 4.2 builds but apps like TED.com and iBooks were quite wanky. Wonder if that's been fixed. I am a pro at rolling back to 3.0! Haha

iPhone 3G

Anyone tried on iPhone 3G yet? I'm hoping they have improved performance but am too afraid to be the guinea pig.

The earlier 4.2 builds were beta builds, this is the gold master and should be same as official 4.2 release.

It's possible that some apps might not yet be compatible with 4.2, but that would be an issue with both the GM and official 4.2 release.

So the official release will be soon, hopefully.

I really need the print feature. Really.
