iOS 4.2 GM Available

i chose to restore from backup but it didn't restore my music collection.


bug or has it always been that way?
 
FYI folks, I tried to upgrade my iphone 4 and it went all the way through, rebooted, and told me it failed. I now have to restore and update then restore from a backup. Apple hasn't worked out all the kinks yet.

are you sure you have iTunes 10.1 beta 2? it won't work unless you do. the update worked pretty well for me.
 
I've got college, so wont be uploading anything for about 12 hours, but I'll be sure to get torrents of all the IPSWs and possibly iTunes Windows then, I'll seed for another 4 hours while I sleep.

i haven't heard many reports of the update failing it. worked like a charm here. the GM release has always been the final release for apple, so if it doesn't work for you now i don't know what to tell you
 
can anyone confirm that 4.2 is faster than 4.1 on iphone 4? no more memory leak like the 4.1 firmware?
 
the new text tones are absolutely awful. they are like 3 seconds long! i just need a short tone, not a partial ringtone
 
Search Google for gumball tech. they have the links to everything you need for windows and mac. They are the Go-to for this stuff every GM master go round

Nope, MBP with 10.6.4 :). I'm trying again.
 
you think the limera1n and greenpois0n will continue to be untethered for 4.2? It would be great if it is.
 
I can confirm that this GM works WITHOUT being a registered developer. Do a Google search for iPhone3,1_4.2_8C134_Restore.ipsw (iPhone 4) and enjoy.
 
Installed 4.2 on Windows 7 x64 using iTunes 10.1 beta 2. No problems at all

It's the GM. Several links have been provided. I have even given one myself.

I've tried this, and it failed. Restoring from 4.1 now.
