4.3....Sucks

Like many, since 4.3 battery life has sucked. I am recharging mid day.

Hopefully, they finally fix the battery.

If I ever get an iPhone again, I will never, ever update the software until waiting a couple months and finding out if it's causing problems for people. When Apple released their 3.0 iOS, it made my iPhone 2G so laggy that it pretty much broke the phone.

I assume you have this box checked:

Yep. I sure do. Does it work for you? I've heard it works for Apple TV and other computers but when it comes to iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch it doesn't.

There's been reports of battery issues to. I haven't tested it myself, but it seems like I'm getting less battery life since 4.3.1, which is what many others have been saying. I don't know how widespread this isssue is, though.

It seems to be very widespread. Everyone I know that's installed it has the issue.

I wonder how many of these posts are trolls? I haven't had any issues whatsoever with 4.3.1. I also didn't have any problems with 4.3; battery life has been absolutely stellar and call performance actually improved in 4.3.1.

The timing of all these "bitching" posts just seems suspicious.

Maybe, but there have been some issues. The battery thing was real. 4.3.1 improved it for me.

I've been getting "Call Failed" on about 25% of my phone call attempts since 4.3.1. It's really, really annoying.

I know several people that have upgraded and suddenly have lots of dropped calls and failed call attempts.

battery drain

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8G4)

I had battery drain with 4.3.1 until I turned off Ping and restarted my phone. Since then, good battery life.

Same here, very noticeable decrease in my iPhone 4's battery life after 4.3.1. After doing some research, I disabled Ping and everything is back to normal.

MEh, I jailbroke my iPhone after the last update. No need to worry about another Apple update for months...

My battery life has been SO bad since 4.3 that I have to recharge at lunch. No restore, reboot, reset settings, hard reboot, Ping, etc... has helped. Apple BETTER get this fixed. And no, I'm not jailbroken. Go figure.

Might want to check the signature app in the store. I've had it for over a year, you can choose up to 6 signatures. Use to be called signature pro, but my app says just Signature.

FWIW.
If this is what you are talking about, the current version is $5. Which would be fine, except the recent reviews are very poor.

It also looks (from the screencaps) like you run the app to pick one of a handful of signatures, when most of us just want to have one specific signature assigned each mailbox...

Regardless, thanks for the heads up.

While I welcome these bug fixes, do I really have to endure 600+ megabyte downloads just to have them installed? That's what I went through with my 4G iPod touch and iPad 2 when iOS 4.3.1 came out.

I really hope that the upcoming iOS 5.0 will allow for incremental upgrades so you don't have to do such big downloads anymore in the future.

i'm getting a bit sick of upgrading.... & 4.3 has killed the battery life on my 3GS. Anyone know a way to downgrade to 4.2.1 ?

I have really been thinking of finally getting an iPhone.. but after hearing all these battery issues I am starting to think otherwise. IDK.. we'll see. At least its not as bad as the Thunderbolts 3-4hr battery!! LOL!! Thats just pathetic.

My iPhone 4 battery at first was TERRIFIC. 4.3 & 4.3.1 f***ed things up. Now people ask me why I have a charger with me all the time.

Btw: it's not hardware cause the change in battery life is not minimal, it's ENORMOUS and a new iPhone didn't fixed it. Go figure again.

Security Patch

Why don't they just admit it. It's a security patch. Every small patch released in between full digit numbers tend to be security patches. The next real update will be 5.0.

possible fixes

I disabled what I do not use in restrictions under the setting menu. A matter of preference of course as to what you wish to restrict, I turned off youtube, ping and itunes and my phone 4 running 4.3.1 seems to be running a bit more smoothly. I miss 4.2.1 and unfortunately, apple will not allow us to downgrade. Cautiously optomistic for the next update!
