U need not have lost the jb.
U cud have used fix recovery for mac.
I just helped a guy solve the same problem u had..
I had to restore to 4.3.4. During the install process, ios calls out to Apple servers and if it doesn't get the right response it doesn't install. This time the install went from 60% all the way to 100%. There goes my jailbreak. At least my ipad is jailbroken. Luckily IOS 5 is around the corner. What a bummer this is. The lesson learned is to jailbreak immediately when the correct software is being supported.
You can still jailbreak. Your theory abt 60% is wrong. I have been dealing with this errors since ages now.. I Just helped a guy solve the same error u had. It went thru fine..
U just had to download fix recovery for osx .. If u wanna do it let me know.

Okay forget that request. I figured it out after hours of research![]()
Can you please explain what you did. to got it working
and about apple block cydia. those that mean that adding the line to hosts file is not needid any more how to proceed now.
I followed the steps from here http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/p/prevent-iphone4-baseband-update.html
The one thing I did differently though was on step 15. I downloaded the "fixrecovery" file from here http://cache.firmwareumbrella.com/downloads/fixrecovery-win.zip# instead of doing it from within tiny umbrella.
I then unzipped the file. From there I had to download another file from herehttp://www.dll-files.com/pop.php?dll=zlib1
I then unzipped that file and inserted the "zlib1.dll" file into the unzipped folder of "fixrecovery". When all that is done open up the "fixrecovery.exe" file and viollaYou should be good to go after that.
i have tried everything in here and am still stuck the iphone 3gs i received was in 4.3.4 and i tried downgrading to 4.3.3 and then switching basebands to unlock it and messed up in the process and am now stuck in recovery mode. help please.
Use the "fix recovery" method. But don't do it from within tiny umbrella. Download the zip file from http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/
That should work unless you're doing it wrong.
Thanks for this. This worked for me!
It's important that you do as gruppe said, don't use the "Fix Recovery" from within the TinyUmbrella app, use the one on the homepage on the right side.
Here are my explicit directions:
Tools needed:
1. tinyumbrella AND Fix Recovery from here (right side): http://thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com/
2. 4.3.3 firmware from here: http://www.redmondpie.com/download-ios-4.3.3-for-iphone-ipad-ipod-touch-direct-links/
Prep work:
1. Have your SHSH on file with TU
2. Go to advanced in TU and make sure you have both Cydia options UNCHECKED
3. Open terminal and enter "sudo nano /etc/hosts" (do not include ""s), comment out any lines with any gs.apple.com in it by adding # at the very beginning of EACH line. Option+O to save, then Option+X to exit. Close terminal.
Instructions:
1. Open TU and start TSS server (TU will automatically kill iTunes if it was open)
2. Open iTunes and Option+click restore. Find 4.3.3 firmware and choose it.
3. Wait for 1013 error and your iPhone is in recovery mode (iTunes icon and cable).
4. Start Fix Recovery app (not the fix recovery button in TU). Choose the fixrecovery43 (stands for 4.3)
5. Put your iPhone in DFU mode by holding Power+Home until the screen goes black. Wait about 1-2 seconds and release Power but continue holding Home. If you did this correctly the screen will remain black and Fix Recovery will start its process. If the Apple logo comes up, repeat this step until you get it right.
6. Wait a while. Your iPhone will automatically restart and show up in iTunes. iTunes will prompt you to restore from backup.
7. Restore and jailbreak.
Hope this helps. Thanks to all the helpful tips (even the ones that didn't work). Ultimately, thank you to gruppe who made me realize use the separate Fix Recovery tool, not the one built into TU.

The problem I'm having with this is that my phone is already in restore mode, but with nothing on the screen. Does this make a difference? Thanks for this. This worked for me!

Alright, I tried the steps above and after 'fixrecovery' runs, it restarts but goes back to recovery mode.
I did notice this when the terminal window was open and fix recovery was running.

Hello,
I was having the very same problem, i have a feeling we had the same problem, maybe this will help.
Do you have little snitch or any other Firewall program installed? if yes, it is blocking terminal from connecting to the internet and getting the files needed during the fix recovery process. Make sure you allow terminal internet access and it will work.

@biggy52 you.are.awesome! I disabled little snitch and apples firewall and voilà! worked like a charm.
Once the 1013 error appeared, I launched TinyUmbrella and Fix Recovery together but only ran Fix Recovery (with phone in DFU mode) and it worked! I'm back to 4.3.3.
Thanks for this. This worked for me!

Before beginning the restore process, does the phone need to be in DFU mode? and once the phone is in recovery mode, how do you put the phone in DFU mode again?
