I'll assume that worked?

Yes. That worked. I have made it to Step 10; however, when I opened iTunes 10, another program opened and requested to be updated . . . TuneUp??? While trying to find out what THAT was, the recovery crashed with error 21. I trashed TuneUp and tried to do Step 10 again, but got the same error. I am trying one more time.

I managed to get error 1604, so I am recovering to 4.2.1. If this doesn't take all night, I'll try again.

Well I've been using 4.3 Jailbroken most of the day and it works wonderfully. Every app/tweak I use works perfectly. I may post the list tomorrow (50ish).

^ nice. jonesing for this. Really interested in finding out how the gestures work on the smaller screen. Do tell?

Totally STUCK

I have tried to instal the CUSTOM 4.3 ipsw. I have followed every step to the insanely dot and when I try to restore my iPad it reaches a point where it gets stuck and doesn't go anywhere!

Any thoughts? advices? I have tried on MacOs 10.6 MacOs 10.7 and NOTHING!

HELP ANYONE?!

I can't get the gestures to show up so I can enable it. I've got in the the plist spelled correctly etc. and it still won't appear in Settings. I think I'm going to wipe my changes, reboot and try again. I've got to be doing something wrong.

In other news, as promised here is the list of what I use and that works perfectly:

! = Requires reboot

  • ! afc2add
  • Activator
  • Airplane SBSettings Toggle
  • Autolock SBSettings
  • CyDelete
  • Facebook Logo for OpenNotifier
  • FakeClockUp - repo: repo.insanelyi.com
  • FolderCloser
  • Go Native
  • iFile
  • iRetiner GUI
  • MobileTerminal (NEW) [520-1] - repo: repo.insanelyi.com
  • My3G
  • No Bookmarks
  • NoAccessorySplash iOS4
  • OpenNotifier
  • OpenSSH
  • Pull To Refresh Safari
  • Retinasizer
  • ! SBSettings
    - Theme: Serious SBSettings HD
  • ShowCase
  • SNES A.D. Plus
  • snes4iphone
  • SpringFlash
  • StayOpened
  • SwitcherMod
  • TetherMe
  • Twizzler
  • User Agent Faker
  • UAFaker SBSettings
  • Vmoji MOD - repo: Vintendo.com
  • WeatherIcon

I will add that Cydia does need an update as when you add repo's now the dialog is way to high on the screen and it gets cut off. This doesn't affect the ability to add repo's though. That still works fine thank goodness.

I assume you're using the iPad How To Guide and have the iPad bundle?

Anyone experiencing only 1 signal bar?
Nope. I've got full bars right now at my house. No battery drainage either. It works wonderfully.

Oh and Personal Hotspot is freaking fantastic, as is Home Sharing (I don't have an AppleTV to test the additions to AirPlay).

Are you folks having any problems with MobileSubstrate apps?

See this warning from BigBoss:

http://thebigboss.org/2011/03/06/4-3-due-march-11-hold-off
I believe the only apps I have that use MobileSubstrate are SBSettings and OpenNotifier, both of which I've have zero issues with and are rock solid so far.

However, I believe what he's saying is that if, by some chance, MobileSubstrate crashes there is no Safe Mode. That would force a reboot and be bad if you're away from a computer to tether to.

I still can't get it to show up. According to the original source, FunkySpaceMonkey, I'm not the only one who can't get it to show up. Oh well. Maybe there will be a Cydia tweak out soon.

To get the MultiTasking-touch gestures to show up, you need to plug the device into xCode and select "use for development" in the organizer.

The point of this is so you dont have to use XCode.

The good news is that I finally got it to work. The instructions linked to left out a few steps (crappy journalism) but I stumbled upon them at jailbreakzone.

It's definitely cramped on the iPhone screen but it works quite well.

Trying to work through this on my IP4. Get's into the Restore on iTunes and errors out (with the Custom .ipsw file) with Error 1600. Ideas?

BTW - does it matter that I already had the 4.3 GM installed? Should I back up to 4.2.1 first?

All Errors with the 160x prefix are USB errors. Try a different, port, computer or reboot the current computer.

Also, restoring from a failed jailbroken state (ie the jailbreak went wrong and you are trying again) will also give you this error. Only way is to restore stock and retry jailbreak.

Tks! Will try again after reset to 4.2.1 is complete.

Well, no joy for me. 1600 error persists and I don't have another USB port to try (old MBA).

Restored back to 4.3 GM and will await more developments

I get that on my iPad but it worked fine on iPhone 4. Even tried a different computer, same thing.
