Can you restore and then upgrade to 4.3 if you don't care about jailbreaking again? Thanks for all the help. I'm just trying to understand how this all works. I do love my JB.

Yes but whether you care or not, there is already a 4.3 jailbreak (tethered) and there will be an untethered in the near future. I say go for it.
He/She probably has a repo that has cracked Cydia apps. Instalous has nothing to do with it as that only has Apple Apps. I'm sure it was an innocent mistake. When I first got into the JB community I googled a search for repos and did not know what to expect so I added a few from a list posted on a reputable website. Now Cydia specifically gives a warning if the repo you are attempting to add is one that sanctions piracy.
Anyway, that pkgbackup app is wonderful and a bargain at $7.99. I bought it when it was a little cheaper and I even donated a few bucks to the developer because this app saves you a great deal of time when you have to restore your phone after updating to a new version of IOS.

Just annoying when people come here who install shady software/repos and wonder why their iDevice has (insert complaint here).
