I don't understand why Apple can't make exceptions for some JB apps like SBsettings, Lockinfo & Bitesms which have already been proven not to hinder the iOS experience. That's also guaranteed money from the percentage Apple would take.

Tethered = Can't reboot unless connected to your computer via USB. So if a crash happens or iPhone reboots by itself, your screwed until you connect to USB.

Untethered = Can reboot like normal.
...

But with the Semitether package a tethered jailbreak can boot into a non-jailbroken mode until you get home to reboot tethered. Mail and Safari does not work (Safari can be made to work), most standard stuff works, none of the JB tweaks work. A very useful plan B if you go for a tethered jailbreak, it makes is almost as good as an untethered one (unless you fly a lot and need to turn off your phone often).

Are you going to ask the same question on every single thread?

NO, NO, NO and NO if you want to Jailbreak anytime soon.

Like i stated in the other thread that question was designated for this one originally.

Hey but thanks for caring and for answering in both :D

I want to JB tethered on iOS5.0 and I miss it when I had 4.3.3. I am running out of patience to wait for the untethered JB.

I was looking for an answer for what happens if there is an accidental reboot after the tethered JB. Does it reboot as a normal non-JB iphone or does it not reboot at all without the tether? I dont have my home computer with me to boot tethered at work, I wanted to know what my options are.

To say the least after tethered JB and a untethered reboot, can the phone be used for phone calls? No phone calls is a deal breaker for me and I would then have to wait for the untethered JB.

So it doesnt reboot.

Correct - it sits at the Apple logo. SemiTether supports some functionality.

As I, and others, have mentioned in several other threads, I've been running the tethered jb for over a month without ever having to reboot my phone since the initial reboot after the jb. I've used both redsn0w and sn0wbreeze, which doesn't break iBooks, without ever having to reboot.

If you install the SemiTether package, it will be able to reboot into a non-jailbroken state, where the phone and SMS works, but email does not. Safari can be made to work.

I find this an acceptable compromise. Normally, you don't need to reboot the phone, but it is nice to have an "insurance policy" allowing phone calls if it happens. :)

Thank you guys. I guess I will JB tethered and install semi-tether. I will be one happy camper until the untethered JB arrives.

One more question, my phone automatically downloaded 5.01 and I havent hit install and not planning on it. Will the 5.01 automatically install without user input?

No, as long as you dont "accidentally" hit install it will never install it on its own.

Come on AJ, you know better than that by now..that "never" happen..no body ever... Accidentally hit install, of course it will happen by itself, or the maid, or the cat/dog, the girlfriend, the wind, the internet Ghost, it will happen while you are sleeping...

Lol :D Very true.
The Maid was my favorite:D
After she did the dishes, vacuumed the floors she went ahead and did all my software updates. Windows update, updated all my apps on my ipad and also the firmware on my iphone.
Good job but now I lost my unlock:)

it had been my favorite also so far.... that's a hell of a Maid service

What's the advantage of waiting for the untethered? I'm probably going to do the same, because I keep hearing it's the best thing to do. I am just not exactly sure why.

I just want to make sure AT&T does not find out a I jailbroke and rat me out to apple or something. I want SBSettings, and i have give up my warranty for it? Ouch....no thanks.

AT&T doesn't know their a$$ from the iphone charging port. let alone finding out you jailbroke.

Another question, I read that Apple is not signing iOS 5.0, does that mean when I point to the 5.0 IPSW on redsnow Apple wont activate the re-install for JB?
