I'm going to follow this thread. I am running iOS5 on my iPhone 4 and left today for work at 2:30 with 100% battery and pretty much did nothing with the phone. Left work with 52% left at 6:30. Something is sucking it down. That's for sure. Prior to the beta, I would still have at least 85% and that's WITH using it.

So, I am trying some suggestions here. I turned off all the iCloud account stuff and we will see what happens.

Restoring from backup has nothing to do with battery life, and anyone who tells you different has no idea what they're talking about, whatsoever.

...

DO NOT listen to people who tell you restoring from backup makes any difference, as it does NOT.

There's about half a million posts on Google that disagree.

because everything on Google is 100% true!

I've installed from backup and installed fresh. Many times with many different phones throughout the years. No difference in either option. None.

Upgraded to iOS5 and restored from backup of a jailbroken 4.3.3 iOS.

Did NOT activate iCloud.
Did NOT even launch Reminders.

Did have push MobileMe setup and displaying mail on the lockscreen.
Did play with the phone.

In my 1st day of testing, I used less battery over my 10 hour work day in a weak signal area than I did with 4.3.3 even when not jailbroken.

With more days of testing we'll see how it goes but with just those minor steps above, I saw no abnormal battery usage and actually saw a bit of an improvement in one day of testing.

Just FYI, not everyone is having battery issues

I have all iCloud functions turned on, including lock screen notifications for email, sms, and calls. I have not noticed a significant change from 4.3. My phone lasts all day and still had about a 60% charge left. I did NOT restore from a backup when I installed, maybe that was the key.

All i can add is that after turning iCloud off my battery is great again!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/534.32 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8F190 Safari/6533.18.5)

Mine is great after I turned off completly iCloud and now is at 96% with 45 mins usage and 1 hour 42 mins standby!
