i really hope not...

my patience with iphones and ios is coming to an end fast.

just seen the new WP 8 video its waaaay ahead of this crap iOS 6. more than once it made me look at my phone and pitty it.

Videos make the Windows Phone look like it is way ahead of the iPhone, but real world use will quickly confirm that it has a lot of catching up to do.

I had the Nokia Lumia 900 and the Camera app had a lot to be desired, if I wanted to take a Macro shot I had to go into the settings to enable Macro mode, if I exit the app and came back I would have to re-enable it. Same goes for exposure and scenery. The iPhone does all of this automatically.

In the month that I had it I had installed maybe 5-8 apps, nothing interesting in the Market Place.

Live tiles are nice and I really liked how it managed my contact and the messages layout, and the ability to customize it. I also really enjoyed the keyboard and how it had predictive words as I typed. But overall Windows Phone didm't have enough to offer to make me stay.

- ability to personalize phone beyond arranging icons

- live apps

- app recommendations in store based on what friends use.

- try before you buy apps.

- consistent format/theme/layout of apps.

- group chat rooms to share calendars, photos, documents and chat updates built right into the the contact list (compatible with users with iOS)

- intelligent word flow keyboard for fast typing.

- access restriction for children.

- compatible with iTunes and WMP.

- photo editing apps built into the standard camera app.

Well then, Android is for you my man.

Well, i hope that 6.0.1 comes soon, seeing as my wifi toggle is greyed out and I can't turn it on:(

Had that problem before ... if a DFU restore won't fix it then the WIFI chip is fried. Get it replaced man!

Hey wouldn't jus be easier for macrumors to just repost the IOS 5 introductions threads than make users have the same complaints with 6. If you don't like it don't use it.

Personally, I have no use at all for most of the list of things you think are missing. I like IOS6 and liked IOS5.

IOS30 won't provide people all they want.

see in red above and better luck next time :)

Just wanted to add that Apple released iPhoto for iPhone if someone wanted a more full featured photo editor. You pretty much covered everything else.

I think it'll come today. iOS 6 was released 42 days ago.... it's time for an update!

doubt it... firmware for the ipad mini and ipad 4 where released yesterday and they are 6.0 builds.

update: its past 10:00 am PST so not today anyway.

Updates have often come out somewhat past 10:00 AM PST (10:30ish, etc.). That said, I guess we'll know soon enough as the window for that today is kind of closing (but there's tomorrow as well, realistically speaking).

As for iPad Mini, seems like some are saying that the early shipped models might actually be running iOS 6.0.1, which means it should get released this week in time for the official iPad Mini launch on Fri.

Scott is leaving in the next year, there is no need to wait for new boss, well, I hope they will release it sooner than in 2013 :D
He's sticking around as a "Special Adviser" to Tim Cook, but he's no longer in charge of anything. Jony Ivy is now in charge of iOS, and he's not a software guy so I expect a transitional period for iOS development/release.

6.0.1 has already been in the final stages of testing before the changes, so that shouldn't really be affected much. 6.1 has even been reported to be in the testing phase too, so hopefully not too much of an effect on that either. Beyond that...who knows.

Really? it happened with the iOS 6 update.

Ok. Regardless, if a DFU restore doesn't fix it, then the Wifi chip is fried. A software update won't fix a hardware issue.

iPad 4's and iPad Mini's are running 6.0.1? How come people that received theirs early or test models don't show this?

I would think we will see 6.0.1 with iTunes 11 before the end of November.

Someone mentioned that there were reports of 6.0.1 being on iPad Minis that were shipped early, but it doesn't seem like that's completely confirmed.

My favorite is the keyboard one... I don't think he has ever used an Android or WP.
I can type up a storm on my 4S :apple:, yet I click on a letter on my Nexus 7 and nothing happens. :(

I really don't think you spent a lot of time with Windows Phone. I have 5-8 apps installed, just from A -> C. Likewise, the camera has a button where you can set the current settings as default. It doesn't save your last used settings as default. It's a feature not a bug.

- ability to personalize phone beyond arranging icons I'd say expect that in iOS 7 with Ive at the helm.

- live apps Likely iOS 7.

- app recommendations in store based on what friends use.
Possible.[/b]

- try before you buy apps.[/b]Nope. Thank the fickle, flakey people for that. It would devastate the App Store and developers.[/b]

- consistent format/theme/layout of apps. [/b]Nope. Developers aren't going to stifle their creativity and the things that set their app apart to look the same as the next dev's work.[/b]

- group chat rooms to share calendars, photos, documents and chat updates built right into the the contact list (compatible with users with iOS) Possible, and I really like this idea. Though it would fit better in Messages.

- intelligent word flow keyboard for fast typing. While possible, unlikely. I'd just be happy with a better autocorrect. "So" to "Do" is still there, and still annoying.

- access restriction for children. That's already built in?

- compatible with iTunes and WMP. I lol'd. Hard.

- photo editing apps built into the standard camera app. That's what iPhoto is for.

My thoughts.
