iOS 6.1 Beta 1: New Features & Improvements (fixes) Thread

I think the lock screen looks great! I'm wondering if they're planning on giving the "aqua theme" the boot across the board?

It would look cool if they could apply the controls to video controls and such..

With all that real estate, why would they make to clock go to the top?

The space at the top shows the current track's info. I'd imagine they'd want to keep lots of space for the album artwork too. Can't say I'm particularly bothered

Since that is Taylor Swift, just curious if you are a guy? I'm not saying guys can't listen to female artists (females can hit higher notes than guys and after all we don't always want to listen to men sing ) since I have in my iPod. I'd say over 30% of my music are female.

My favorite female artists that are still singing and making records are Avril Lavigne and Kelly Clarkson. I like females with powerful voices. Taylor Swift has some catchy beats but would never put in my collection.

Just genuinely curious. If you are a girl, forget this post.

Yes, i'm a guy. I only have 2 Taylor Swift songs on my iPhone vs 5 Avril Lavigne songs, in a total of ~1000 songs.
I'd say about 40% of my music is from female artists (solo or band).

I guess everyone's different, and I'll have to wait to see it in action, but I'm wondering if you're out and about and you just want to pull the phone out of your pocket to see the time, does pressing the power button, or the home button once still let you see the time in large font?

Yes. It's only moved to the status bar when the home button is tapped twice to display the controls.

Just installed iOS 6.1 Beta.

Quite like the new lock screen music controls. The way the silver button and the silver line under the media controls moves is quite neat. Wish they would update the multitasking bar controls too. I'm sure some of the menus in Settings have been renamed and some have been merged, like 'iTunes & App Stores' and 'Camera & Photos'. Nothing major though.

Would like to know this as well. I suspect it still does not work. Hasn't since initial iOS6 as I understand. NO video output with the Apple Digital adapter at all since iOS6.

I think it would be fantastic if they'd bring back the ability do download one song off of the cloud on to the phone rather than having to download the whole album- AND if we'd be able to SEE which songs are on our device rather than not seeing anything.

It costs a FORTUNE to listen to music without WIFI connectivity.

This was a monumental change and a complete and total ripoff to Match users who have large libraries of music!

The new lock screen music controls are so much better. Never again will i hit either the back or forward button when i wanted to hit play/pause!!

Improvement: The Facebook icon in the action/share sheet has been updated to be the same as the Facebook app icon.

This is my first post but I updated to 6.1 and now I can AirPlay videos on my 4s to my apple tv while I do other things like this post currently. Also I can plug it in to my alpine car stereo and actually select the song on the iPhone and not randomly skip songs via the alpine deck. Neither of these I've been able to before 6.1

It would be awesome if they remove the carrier names! And add the apple logo like how i did wiht my jailbroken iphone. Looks cleaner and sleeker.

I actually found the "Aqua" theme wallpaper somewhere on the net and set it as the wallpaper/lockscreen on my 4S...made the urge to buya 5 slightly less lol now I dont mind so much waiting for the 5s..its all mental

Does this update address the time it takes for a text to show in notification center? Mine takes like 3 seconds after I get the initial text. I do realize this sounds petty. But I don't think it used to be this way
