There is ONE issue, and that issue is that iOS 6.1 build 10B141 will not install on my 5th generation iPod touch, I have tried DFU mode, I have tested the hosts file to Apple, (I successfully downgraded from 6.1 beta 4 to 6.0.1 via Apple) and I am running the LATEST iTunes, 11.0.1 and the newest OS X build 12D58 10.8.3. Here is a reference picture of the DFU...

Unicorn Mode, right under Airplane mode... when you toggle on, iOS has automagical new features that you can't articulate you need, yet it senses your countless forum posts that "Apple better add something new". Because as we all know, forum trolls know better than Apple engineers.

----------

I downloaded beta 5 on my iPhone 5. Doesn't seem like anything is new.

I'm installing now. I hope the Music app and Lock screen are fixed. Its been very very buggy.

As far as I see there are no new user changes/features in beta 5 compared to beta 4. It does seem more stable though. Didn't notice any bugs during use on both iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

at this point i hope 6.1 is more stable then 6.0 was.. getting tired of apps crashing and low memory messages and yes i have an iPhone 5.

Looks like the Home sharing is almost working perfectly again! And it sounds like the Bluetooth audio distortion problem is fixed with my Bluetooth speakers. FINALLY.

Just installed beta 5 on an non-registered ios-device, just worked. Sounds like GM to me.

What artwork problem?

Looks to be fixed. It was an issue where the artwork wasn't formatted / aligned properly on the lock screen when music was playing.

Just updated to iOS 6.1 Beta 5
No problems what so ever as of now... The only thing I noticed is well the album artwork in the lockscreen. It's much better (For me at least... OCD)
Apps load faster. Overall seems snappier.

Difference between 6.0.2 to 6.1 artwork on lockscreen

Uh, just so you know, I'm not a developer and I've installed every iOS beta since they first started testing 6.0. You don't need to be a developer to install the developer previews anymore, and you don't need to jailbreak.

Through iTunes you just control + click on 'Check for Updates', choose your leaked copy of the new iOS beta and it will update your system to the developer beta without any hacking, modification or UDID registration. This has been the case for a while.

The only reason for this I can think of is Apple is trying to kill the market of developers selling UDID registrations by letting the rest of us test the beta too. More likely though its just a bug they can't be bothered fixing.

(note: ctrl + clicking the 'Restore' button will not install it, the device has to have already been Activated with a non-developer copy of iOS)

Yeah, this was the case with iOS 6.0. That's when people started figuring this out. Not sure if it was possible with pre-iOS 6 betas or not.

It's me or the battery consumption went bad again this build - back to 6.0.2 level.

Beta 3 & 4 was good with battery consumption on my iPhone 5.

Where did you download these leaked copies?

To be honest, I would like to think Apple are putting all their effort into iOS 7. The .1 releases in the past, to me anyway, have always been minor (Except the HDR photos, that was a treat) but the rest have been more "shortcuts" and "things we forgot to put in" stuff.

iOS 7 is going to be a very, very important release for Apple. I can see users are frustrated by the lack of any real "freshness" being blasted into the OS, and it might be the last straw for a lot more people, vs iOS 6.

Me, I'll always be happy with my iPhone, does everything I want it to do: make calls, good Internet access, high quality apps/hardware, excellent camera. Anything more is bonus.
