Everything Windows 8 Will have!

Pretty much everything that Windows 8 tablets will have, since windows 8 is a full OS! Apple will have to make Mac OSX tablet friendly to compete with Windows 8.

Or just add this to iOS6
-Fash
-True Multitasking (Side by side usage of apps)
-Multiple Windows
-Filesystem
-User accounts

-I have windows 8 on my laptop and its amazing! Im pretty sure itl be even better on a tablet! If apple made iOS 6 a bit like windows 8 it would be great!

How about multitasking? Apple gave us the ability to switch between apps more quickly, called it 'multitasking', and the whole world bought it.

It would be fairly simple. Cut the screen in half. Literally.

Oooooooooh!

I want to see the android style function widgets/buttons so you can't switch the Bluetooth wifi radios gps etc on/off without going into settings.

Yes, I want that!

I'd like to see some sort of ad blocking, and a toggle next to the wifi symbol/icon at the top of the screen to turn JavaScript on and off. Siri would be a welcome upgrade as well.

If you are referring to AirPrint that only works on a handful of HP printers. I want to be able to print from ANY WiFi printer. Is there something I'm missing in the print dept?

Oh, I suppose I have only used HP printers. Has Apple got some deal with HP then?

I've been using iOS since 2009 and agree it's beginning to feel a bit dated. It's simple, it gets out of my way, but I sometimes wish it could do just a bit more up front.

As others have mentioned, an Expose like feature would be great. Instead of swiping to the far left to pull up spotlight search, built it into notification center (probably rename it and include some additional widgets and give devs access to the API). Your far left panel is now expose, and shows a small preview of all the apps you have open and a preview of them. Tap to open.
Imagine us who've had it since 2007. I would be bored as ever without a jailbreak. The interface is very dated. They could at least give us the options to change the colors or something. But luckily, we a jailbreak to fix that issue.

I think it's time for some ground breaking features. Honestly I think in it's current implementation iOS is pretty much complete.

What do you think?

Go and ask Microsoft anywhere after Windows 2000 about that.

Long story short: It's an operating system, meant to initialize and manage hardware, as well as launch and manage apps. What do you expect it to do?

(Obviously, Apple gives you a nicer sounding explanation, but I might have missed the big difference between Leopard and Lion, except for some new graphics and Mission Control, Launchpad, the Full-Screen mode and the Mac App Store - which all fall into the 'launch and manage apps' category, with a bit of fanciness around it)

Wy do people want a full OS on their tablet? I can't see tablets ever replacing laptops. They're a different category of device. Mostly consumption with some productivity.

You'll never see flash on an iOS device. Isn't flash for mobile pretty much dead anyway? I can probably count on one hand the number of times I couldn't view content on my iPad because it doesnt support Flash. The Skyfire browser can view most flash video and if I can't get something via browser most often I can get it via app. Maybe 2-3 years ago flash was a big selling feature but is it really anymore?

These four sentences make me sad for what Apple has done to your brain.

Apple didn't do that, because clearly, even Apple thinks of the device as more than mostly a consumption device.

Exactly, there is a huge audience that want more productivity out of their iOS device -- Apple would be foolish to ignore them. Nearly half of the top 20 apps on the device are "content creation". There is a kickstarter project that adds a keyboard to the iPad and it has generated over half a million dollars in 2 weeks.

The one feature that I want to see improved upon is iMessage. I have given up with getting it to work properly on syncing at the same time on both the iPad and the iPhone.

TechCrunch is reporting the following for iOS 6, codename "Sundance"

Siri API's
Siri for iPad
Further iCloud/mountain lion integration

How would people feel about Siri for iPad? It seems to me that part of Siri's purpose is to allow you to do things on the move. Obviously you're less likely to be moving around when using an iPad than when using an iPhone, in my experience anyway. However, combined with developer API's i think Siri for iPad could potentially be interesting

iMessage is a joke, it's so completely flawed it blows my mind it still hasn't improved or been fixed.

For sure they could improve the music player, at least make it the same as the iPhone regarding podcasts.

When at my desk on the big PC I use Airfoil Speakers to stream podcasts from the iPad over the big speakers. The iPad's Player just blows for podcasts, the iPhone has easy access to "get more podcasts" from that specific content provider (e.g. dark secret place on demand) where you just press one button and are right at the site with a list of shows. On the pad you are sent to itunes, where you have to search for your provider, what's with that??

This plus it's just not a friendly UI at all, much room for improvement, I'm suprised at the lack of detail they put into this.

Realise Apple are unlikely to improve the Music app at all, buy Downcast, and after a day you'll forget the awful Music app even existed and wish you ditched it months ago. Do a search, lots of people recommend it, it'll be the best app you buy all year if you're heavily into podcasts.

As for iOS6, wouldn't surprise me if all we get is widgets, which I personally couldn't give a monkeys about, and some refinements. I *adore* my iPad, but it's light years away from the kind of functionality I'd like from it given the speed Apple will dripfeed us features. I can live with this simply because my iPad is purely for fun and consumption - I haven't a clue how people use it for serious work beyond the simplest of tasks.

Thanks! Downcast now on board!

I have long since turned Siri off, precisely because she sucks in a mobile enviornment about 40% of the time, mostly while driving and trying to voice dial co-workers and customers.

I would much prefer Siri on my iPad as this is exactly where I would ask research oriented questions, while stationary.

Until they allow for some form of local "fallback" to local voice processing on the go, I would much prefer Siri on an iPad.

The built-in photos app, or Iphoto should allow you to see more info about a photo, like the date and location, in one place, like with balloon text.

Agreed. We have it on one of our work computers. Annoying as hell.

I have it in a virtual machine on my Mac..The new Metro interface is ugly and just plain useless for non-touch users. I don't know what the folks at Microsoft were smoking when they came up with that idea.

After watching the movie Iron Sky I found out that the iPad can be used to operate a huge spaceship called Gotterdammerung. :)

I would like to see the following in iOS 6xx

1. Siri
2. Better Print options. Get rid of these 3rd party option apps.
3. A quick settings centre similar to SBSettings.
4. Would like to see the weather on the lockscreen with the time. Can be grabbed either from your GPS or a reliable weather centre url.
5. Ability to have a black or white touch keyboard setting. We have black and white devices. It make sense!
6. Ability in settings to disable Spotlight. I always swipe to it by accident.

Also next iPad should have 2 speakers.
