So Gary, although there are probably many that are obviously not happy about the problem, if you look back through this and many other threads, a lot of people always come out flaming people who point out apple's short-comings. It's as though they take it personally. It's not about them (forum users), it's about apple.
So those are the people you you talking to (or about). Nothing you can you about them. An the whole topic is about the a problem, I'm not sure of the people who came to this forum to point it out (why are they here?).
Just look at the maps fiasco as an example. People were defending it as though maps were ok, and were even willing to accept it. It illustrates the mentality. Obviously it was not ok. Tim Cook fired Forstall, publicly apologized, and even suggested people use alternative maps. Despite all this, people still defend apple even when they're wrong.
And if it was most any other company in the world it wouldn't have been labeled a "fiasco". Overall, maps worked great for me. Anyone who thought they'd be perfect first time through is crazy. All that and we're still talking about maps, only because it's Apple.
I saw SO many of the map reports were bad 3d images, those don't get you lost, that's when you're goofing around with 3d flyovers. They added to the fuel and we a cute feature that had some problems.
Don't get me wrong there were map mistakes, but looking at the directions before you start driving are a good idea with an app, a printout from google maps or a TripTik from AAA.
If I'm trying to go up north and the directions are taking me south, people need to
use a little common sense and not complain the program got me lost. When you type in a location it shows you a map and when you route it shows you the overview.
There is an "apple can do no wrong" mentality by a lot of people, and that's why I made the statement that apple has probably become arrogant because people accept anything they do - right or wrong.
But what is the point of making the statement. The people you are referring to aren't listening. You're just stirring the pot.
I'll say again - this is $1000 worth of phone. Not a $2 wrist-watch (which definitely has an alarm that works - without bugs)
Not sure the point of this, the alarms work fine. The Do Not Disturb function didn't work. It's a brand new feature, it's the first time it crossed over to a new year. Again, if it wasn't Apple, this wouldn't be such a huge issue. And there wouldn't been all these people stirring the pot.
It's not like the phones stopped working like when all the Zunes stopped working a new year's (last year?). They just stopped.
MY HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT: Apple didn't send an e-mail out to everyone (or a text message) warning them of the problem. I'm sure a few people were confused as to why they didn't hear the phone ringing.
Not that most companies would send out such a thing, but it sure would be useful.
My (way more) than 2 cents,
Gary
