I wonder if the GUI tweaks that are leaking from the beta might be useful to "guess" about the phone design. More metallic look and feel from the outside up to the GUI???

It's little things like the metallic slider that fuel the iPhone's unmatched success.

Staying in the App store after making a purchase, yaaaay!!!!

You guys tout Apple's attention to detail, but totally disregard when they withhold features for no freaking reason except to withhold features.

Weather on my lockscreen? A ridiculous thought!
Contact pics in the contact list and in messages app? Nope.

Wow, look at that attention to detail. How many other nobrainer features should have been included years ago? But right, Apple thank you for adding a shiny metallic slider. Brilliant.

Is this notification center and lock screen that difficult?

Guided Access

I'm surprised this article didn't mention Guided Access under Accessibility.

It suppose to lock the iPad in an app via triple click home button and passlock it if need be. So say you have a young kid that keeps pressing the home button because thats what kids do and you don't want them to leave that app, you could triple press home and will lock into the app until the passcode is entered.

Unfortunately it isn't functioning. This would have been very useful a few months back with my kid but at least they added the ability to iOS 6.

As it quotes itself
"Guided Access keeps the iPhone in a single app, and allows you to control which features are available. To start Guided Access, triple-click the Home button in the app you want to use."

About that reflection thing: I've seen that before in the app Pele Ukulele, a LCD simulator game with a very subtle changing of the LCD segment dynamic shadows when you tilt the iPhone. Looks very realistic. Tried it right now: Doesn't run properly on iPad 3 (but very good on iPad orig. and iPhone 4).

You're confusing "attention to detail" with "features you'd like added".

I wonder if the engineer had to ask permission to do that, or if he just went, "Hey it would be cool if it did this" and just did it lol

Probably a bit of both :)

The way it works in real life is this:

If everyone likes it, then the boss takes credt for it.

If it turns out to be a flop or controversial, then the boss will swear that the developer did it on their own without permission and will be punished.

Moral of the story: if you're a developer, don't put things in unless you're sure it'll be liked!

I'm pretty sure iOS already has IPv6 support (since iOS 4), I wonder if they are going to improve it to include privacy measures with iOS 6?

Does anyone have a list of changes for Siri? There was a similar screen presented during the keynote for Siri features that weren't mentioned, but I wasn't able to pause the video to take a screenshot.

I am a HUGE fan of Apple and I couldn't agree more...

- No default Weather temp changes on Weather icon?
- Can't hide/show preinstalled apps like Stocks?

Attention to details, yes. Attention to the WRONG details.

Ethan

Is there any news of whether apple will support mass transit directions again? It's very odd they don't even mention it.

Usually apple drops legacy technology but with this map update there is nothing but legacy transit (automobile) options

One thing I noticed while driving in this morning is that there is a new button next to Siri when you are connected to a Bluetooth device, that allows you to toggle whether commands come through the phone's mic or the BT device's mic. This is something I know I personally was hoping for, since the mic in my self-installed car stereo really sucks, making Siri useless while in the car. Now I can continue to listen to music over BT, but if I want to use Siri for any reason I can without disabling Bluetooth, thus disrupting my music.

Yeah the contact pictures in Contacts List/Messages App bugs me probably the most. That's so obvious.

I think Apple does a lot right, but they miss a lot of things completely...

Waste of engineering resources? It's art, it is what separates Apple from all others. ESPECIALLY ANDROID, the touch and use experience of every android phone I've ever touched is so bad it drives me insane. The worst is that choppy scrolling!!!

Love these changes!

I was so annoyed about having to input my password EACH TIME I update an app... It's so unnecessary since it doesn't involve any money. Another annoyance was the fact that I keep having to go back to the app store each time I'm on a hunt for apps...

Thank goodness all these changes are taking place.

Lower your keyboard brethren, I meant you no harm. An opinion at the most.

- Users no longer need to enter their password to update apps -- only when purchasing an app for the first time. Additionally, users aren't kicked to the home screen when buying or updating an app in the App Store.

Awesome! Love this feature.

Probably one of those things where they wanted to see if it was possible and then did it, not something that was planned.

I think an Android phone may suit you better.

----------

I understand we are mostly in US and all speaks English. But don't neglect the languages that iOS 6 will support and allow with Siri. Multiple languages recognition is an amazing feat in ONE machine.

Android doesn't play as well with my iPad and MBP (as my iPhone). Plus, I'm so ingrained into iTunes at this point I feel a bit stuck with Apple. I love Apple hardware and software, but when it comes to things as described above they are really frustrating. They literally and intentionally hold back features, "just because." If they would only be more responsive to feature updates I would have few complaints. In that sense Android is far ahead.

I hope they make the shifting reflection a property that third party developers can add to their UI elements.

Partly because I think it's cool.

Partly because I think it will annoy the "how dare they waste time on frivolity when there are still starving people in the world" crowd.

Especially because I think it will annoy the "how dare they waste time on frivolity when my list of wanted features is not yet complete" crowd.
