automatic update

Does iOS automatically update, or is this feature just for apps?

 Not sure what you are looking at. I see only 13% still on iOS6. Some of them can't upgrade, so the people "refusing to upgrade" are probably in the single digits.

We have 5 iPads and 3 iPhones in my home. Eight total iOS devices. Everything is upgraded to iOS 7 except for the original iPad, which doesn't qualify. 1/8 = 12.5%. I guess 13% of my household "refuses" to upgrade to iOS 7. ;)

Well, you won't hear of Apple themselves issuing this press release.

Considering the competition - the number of android users running the latest (kitkat) is in the low single-digit percentage, it is a pretty amazing number to me!

KitKat has quite a few phone already updated. G2, One, S4 and more. But yes for a security update this is very quick.

And if I could keep my jailbreak, I'd have upgraded too.

Alas, I'd rather not and take my chances.

There's also an SSL patch by developer Ryan Petrich available in Cydia if you don't want to go through the trouble of updating and then jailbreaking again. I've installed it on 7.0.4 and going to the gotofail website shows I'm good now.

I'm amazed how many people I see with old software. Coworkers and classmates alike still have iOS 6 on their iPhone 5. And I'm just like...:confused::confused:

Some people are just unaware of updates or they don't care. Most people aren't like us knowing the exact minute an update is released.

Wow, i didn't need an article to know this... but thanks :)

Reckon everyone was scared of this issue ? They all updated overnight.

Despite those same people are know 'locked' ...... regardless of how they hated the OS as to why they resisted to update...

They have no choice now, but to stay :p

Its like Apple is the Devil and consumers are their prays

(ick... What a thought.)

When it's all done....this will result in a win/win for Apple...they fix the exploit and their adoption rates to iOS7 hit 100%.

I enjoyed iOS6 and had no reason to upgrade until this exploit....I feel a bit sad, angry and pushed into a corner with no options.

 A fix for iOS 6 (6.1.6) was released the same day as the one for iOS 7.

No automatic update, but it can automatically download the update.

Seems like it might not be quite the same as jailbreaking 7.0.6: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1710654/

Yeah, right.

Big deal. If Android had any malware or security problems, 25% of Android users would have the fix in 4 days too :p ;)

And this one isn't even recent, but egregious, for certain:

http://techcrunch.com/2013/04/20/newly-discovered-android-malware-was-downloaded-millions-of-times/

And this seems like a nasty trojan:

http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/...pc-uses-your-microphone-to-record-you/#!xDtI4

And this (again, not real new ... almost a year old now) story from ZDNET is interesting because it has an info graphic addressing two salient issues here...

http://www.zdnet.com/five-simple-ways-to-avoid-android-malware-7000017463/

1) Android hosts 92% of all mobile malware

2) 77% of all Android malware threats would be eliminated if users were on the latest version (at that time, only 4% were on the latest -- compared to over 25% for iOS in just a few days of releasing a new version).

However, perhaps you were meaning to be sarcastic with your little "winkie"...
