I did an iTunes backup and just dfu downgraded to 7.0.6. Then I changed iOS version in the info.plst file within the backup and restored from the 7.1 backup. Works perfectly. I just can't believe how much more polished 7.1 feels now that I'm back on 7.0.6.
I just did it similarly but using recovery mode. Ended up just setting up as new--contacts and notes and reminders and all that came from iCloud, and I just set my settings to what I usually use and downloaded my often used apps (using the purchased section in the App Store). That said, I actually had a pre-7.1 iCloud backup that I could have put on, or similarly could have done the editing of the 7.1 backup to make it compatible with 7.0. And, like you, I quickly noticed the lack of polish in various places when I went back to 7.0.

By not downgrading, how much risk am I really putting myself in? I mean, 75% of users aren't running 7.0.6, so that's some comfort, hah...

Where to find info.plist

They have to be in the same wifi you're using to do harm. They also have to know what they're doing so you're really not at risk... Unless you love in a city of hackers using the same wifi...

Thanks, I won't worry. Hopefully another beta or the GM will be out within a month.

Is there an easy method for this? I can't seem to find one.

First you need to download the 7.0.6 IPSW for your device.

Then make an iTunes backup of your device that's on 7.1.

Now you have to change the data of your backup from 7.1 to 7.0.6. Click on finder, click on the "Go" menu, and click on where it says "go to folder." Paste this "~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup" (without quotes) and it will bring you to your backups. Command-click on the finder and click sort by most recently added, then select the most recent one. Scroll all the way down and double click "Info.plist." Once you're in the plist file, type command-f and search "7.1". Change that to "7.0.6".

Now open iTunes again. Plug your device in and hold control while clicking "restore", and a window will pop up asking you to select an IPSW. Click the one you downloaded earlier and it will restore to 7.0.6. Once it's done, click restore from backup and all your apps and data will be back on your phone.

Hope this helps!

That's what I understood too. I am on a secured wifi 100% of the time either at home or friends/family. So another week or so should not be a problem for me.

Wonder what changes we will see in release or GM? If they are not releasing anything since b5 for so long there must be some new stuff they want to save for some big announcement. All the other changes are posted all over the interwebz so no surprise. Apple likes to surprise and make a big deal with new versions when there are changes.

Doubt it. They are probably just fixing bugs and ones that don't need developer previews (no API tweaks). And most development is probably on iOS 8 now, so 7.1 development will be slower.

No problem! I think GM next week... Well more hoping I love new betas haha

To be honest I think we'll see some new changes for GM. Something in me says new features!

How about instead of adding more things they fix the errors that've been present since day 1.

Oh I agree 100%. It already has enough "features" to do everything I need a phone to do. So I would like for it to do them all WELL and without issue and fast!

New features like improved stability - as promised!

It's been improved chill. I believe we get late builds. So our beta is probably more than a month old. They also tend to withhold some things in beta and show it for prime time. Here's hoping we get quick reply cause it will actually help out.

Good friend of mine keeps trying to get me to put 7.1 on my iPad Air and iPhone 5s. Still reluctant. Wait for release or tap into it a little early? Getting sick of Safari reboots on my Air.

Left some weeks, so I would wait. Furthermore , we have used to it for almost half of year, so those two weeks isn't that long :/

We all know rumours point to an early release for 7.1, let's hope it's a really early release. I'm hoping the GM will be released on the 3rd or 4th of March :)

Very true, my friend. I love my iPad Air so much but I've went back to using the MacBook as an "internet browsing" device. Like, I can't even watch video reviews on GameSpot without it crashing Safari, sometimes re-springing the entire iPad. And forget checking up on more than 2-3 tabs if Clash of Clans is running in the background.

I'll just have to be patient and wait on release.

Today, I found a diagnostic log on my iPhone 5S that I've never seen on any iOS device before.

My 5S is currently running iOS 7.1 beta 5.

The name of the log is: FlashStatus-2014-02-11-181024.ips.synched and it contains the following data -

{"bug_type":176,"os_version":"iOS 7.1 (11D5145e)"}

EDIT: I had to edit my post to remove a majority of the log file contents as it doesn't wrap properly so what you see above is a very small snippet from the log.

Has anyone seen this and if so, know what it is/means?

iOSBry

Does anyone know anything new about this???
thank you!
