Has there always been a GM before release? Or have they ever just gone from last beta to public? Apparently the SSL bug is in b5 so hopefully another beta or GM soon (like today). But we could be stuck waiting for a few mode weeks.

There was no early GM for iOS 5.1, but since then they have been seeding the GM build.

Like many, I'm hoping for the GM today.

Surely a four week gap isn't going to happen?

1800 GMT and we'll find out!

Who have beta 5:
Question about quick reply message. Does it still begins with "Can't talk right now..."? settings>phone>Respond with text
Because my native language isn't supported by Apple and half of reply message contains English (can't talk right now) other half which I can manage is my native.

i dont see apple even releasing a beta 6 or GM

going from beta 5 to public release sometime in march?

We may still see it later today or this week. There are very few set rules with Apple beta testing. I imagine the Mavericks release took priority, although it does leave developers on beta 5 in the lurch SSL wise.

Update for Mavericks is out but nothing iOS today.
Yup, 10.9.2 is out for OS X. As for iOS, it's already been patched in 7.0.6 (and 6.1.6), just no patch for it (so far) for the upcoming 7.1 that is still in beta.

I think the "Only install beta software on Dev/Test devices" is their get-out for that one.

It might sound like it, but security issues aren't any more excusable in pre-release software if it's still available to an audience, and shouldn't be left unaddressed for long (could be longer than production of course, but not by much).

Really thought we would see GM today. I guess we have to wait another week.
Or maybe another day or two. Hard to really know when these things might get released (and whether the next update will be a GM, another beta update, or perhaps a full public release).

It's not worth crying over (since 7.1 beta 5 is pretty stable), but an update would be good in terms of the SSL vulnearability. It's hard to say when they will drop it, but I'm guessing in a day or two...

Or more. Could be some Apple event coming up in a few weeks where they will taunt how iOS 7.1 will revolutionize how people drive with iOS in the Car! And how it will change the auto industry and is the most innovative iOS to date. And be this big production of cheering and clapping! And then "And its available TODAY!" with more cheering and clapping to follow. :) Then the "revolutionized" new phone app will be shown with new round buttons and the crowd will go nuts and rush to get onto wifi to download.

Or it could just release in a day or two silently like 7.0.6 did.

I really hope this comes out soon (like now!). I know it's a beta but this seems to be a pretty big issue that Apple should even want to protect their developers.

Is there an easy method for this? I can't seem to find one.

I did an iTunes backup and just dfu downgraded to 7.0.6. Then I changed iOS version in the info.plst file within the backup and restored from the 7.1 backup. Works perfectly. I just can't believe how much more polished 7.1 feels now that I'm back on 7.0.6.
