I call mid-Jan for 7.1 - late Jan/early Feb at the latest.

BGR, to their credit, have been very accurate concerning iOS beta release schedules. I'm willing go give them the benefit of the doubt.

----------

Folks, iOS 7.1 beta 2 goes a long way to resolving many of the Springboard and Safari crashes as well as considerably improves performance in many areas of the OS.

Hopefully Apple will roll these enhancements into a 7.0.5 release for everyone's benefit!

you know this for a fact?

are you kidding me ? BGR was totally wrong about the first iOS 7.0 Betas and everyone went proper mad over them

And why exactly should we believe BGR? It's not like they have a stellar track record on Apple rumors.

concerning iOS beta release dates, they have been accurate. For everything else, I agree with you.

If you're referring to the first paragraph, yes, I know this as fact. I'm a registered developer and have been testing iOS 7.1 beta 2 since its release on multiple devices and it clearly has resolved the issues as I stated them in my earlier post.

Biggest wishes in addition to bug fixes obviously:

1. MOST IMPORTANT: Music.app update with Remote.app UI and features, such as blurred artwork backgrounds and Up Next support:

ios7remote.jpg

This is essential. The Music.app is infuriating especially since Apple's own Remote.app is essentially exactly the same but just much more beautiful and with the play queue. REALLY PRAY FOR THIS!

2. Dark keyboard option back, better still a dark theme (black toolbars instead of white). Or perhaps a dark theme on black iPhones. Whatever; the white is too stark for my tastes and apps with dark themes look amazing.

3. Quick Reply messages like Mavericks. Doesn't need to wait until iOS 8.

These things could all easily appear in 7.1. The Dark keyboard was in Beta 1, so it could easily return; Quick Reply is already in Mavericks, and is definitely something that could appear in a point release. And the Remote.app is proof Apple has the code for a more colourful, adaptive music app and Up Next is sorely missed especially when it's so brilliantly implemented in the Remote.app and iTunes for Mac.

Come on Apple, do us proud with these three new features to really help make iOS 7 the very best operating system. :)

Apple apple please please apple I just cant wait that long. PLEASE do it sooner then that. And please put the dark keyboard back in iOS 7.1 I really really want that.

BREAKING NEWS

After taking note of extensive criticism on macrumors.com, Apple will be rolling back to the iOS 6-style UI in 7.1b3.

iOS 7.1 will retain the control centre and all other new features, but the appearance of icons and app navigational controls will change.

According to a source close to Apple's engineering team, the long delay in releasing 7.1 is to allow for additional testing and give developers time to update their apps to use traditional "glossy" UI elements rather than the "flat" style which has been erroneously used in iOS 7 up until now.

The anticipated release date is April 1st, 2014.

Sorry that will never happen and I don't want it to.

Everyone Calm the F down........

Usually a beta is seeded to carrier partners before final release. A carrier is not going to need to test for 3 months. Usually the carrier get it a within a week of release. Thats been the past patterns. Who knows this might be different but its not gonna be March. Beta 2 has been reported to be very stable for the most part.

ITS NOT GONNA BE MARCH

I have 4S and I experience lower battery life in 7.x. I even replaced the battery (after two years, it makes sense) but almost no improvements whatsoever (it seems my battery was still quite good actually).

The only thing I would like to see (for at least 18 months) is the Android-like control panel where I can check what EXACTLY is draining the battery! (including apps not currently running and hardware components such as GPS, BT, ...).
I wonder why are they waiting so long, Android has it and it is a USEFUL feature worth copying without shame...

While you're at it, please also re-use Remote.app's home share access routine, so that it loads my library instantly, as Remote.app does, instead of trying for 15 minutes and then failing!

Just fix crashing!

As long as it fixes Safari crashing and otherwise better handles memory, I'll be happy.... That's a long wait though.

It's usually the GM seed that they release to carriers before the public release, not the betas. This seems like a different approach.

I COULD NOT AGREE MORE (notice the CAPs)!!! We need a darker interface option!

I have been enjoying 7.0.whatever its on a lot, i really have been enjoying all of the new features and have yet to find a single bug.

I highly recommend everyone doing a clean install of iOS7,
its easier than ever since once you login with your apple ID and you can redownload all old apps and resync with itunes it doesnt take too much time.

Some issues can be fixed by turning off your phone for a minute and then turning it back on.

Well my new 5S certainly has issues.
The biggest annoyance factor one is that at work we have an authenticated proxy and IOS7 does NOT remember the log/pass that you enter. This is a MAJOR issue with one of our staff who is blind and got an iPhone for Siri, voice over, etc but can barely use it at work because of this bug.

If IOS in the car is the new item for 7.1 then it would seem likely they would release this during the Detroit auto show for maximum exposure. That means a mid January release.
