if he's able to get to the screen to update OTA, it seems like he may not be jailbroken, wouldn't you agree?
How do you restore to 7.0.6 after 7.1 starts showing update to update? Where you do find the 7.0.6 file. My wife needs to probably restore hers and not lose the jailbreak by going to 7.1. Her fitness apps are all crashing on her.
Iphone 5 I found the below link for her. After she downloads the ipsw does it take anything special to get her phone updated? How do we know if Apple is still signing 7.0.6? It is usually a couple days correct?

Hold down Option and click restore, then point iTunes to the fw you downloaded. Signing window could be much less than a couple days.

once you have it downloaded, open itunes, plug in the iphone
and then hold the shift key and click restore
then choose the downloaded 7.0.6 ipsw and it'll restore to 7.0.6 as long as it's still being signed at that time
make sure you download the correct ipsw!

or if you have restored to 7.0.6 via itunes (downloaded in itunes), then you can try browsing to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates and see if the 7.0.6 ipsw is still there
Manually download the firmware .ipsw file from a 3rd party site and option click iTunes to restore.

I'm waiting for the "When will the iOS 7.1 jailbreak be released?" And "What's taking so long for iOS 7.1 jailbreak?" threads.
Of course I am waiting for those also. I personally don't think we will see a 7.1 jailbreak ever.

Why does Apple feel the need to shut it so fast? I would think 24 hours at least. What is the harm on leaving the signing window open for longer?

I went ahead and upgraded. I got sick and tired of random reboots of my phone. I'm keeping my iPad on 7.0.6 for now strictly because of f.lux.

Sad day just meant that no longer is the jb signed.
