Sarcasm, you know how Apple always takes away the key features off previous gen hardware - but the iPhone 5 and 5c have the identical h/w so I am guessing all the features should be available on these devices as the 5c was launched with the 5s.

Yes, I understand now, but it's extremely unlikely really... ya know... ?

Would you please re-write that; I'm not with you. Thanks.

iOS 7 "hatred" flame ranting is officially reserved for a miniscule fraction of the 13% of the total, worldwide iOS device user base having not upgraded to it, it would seem.

I wonder what that ridiculously minute island of luddites are hoping for; a change of heart from Cupertino?

Were the contrast really that low, I would agree. You are exaggerating more than is acceptable to be taken seriously; the typeface is more akin to a mid-brown and inset with a "letterpress" effect on a textured paper effect background.

There's realism and then there's just plain silliness. Do you think Apple designers are stupid?

It frightens me that you posted that without a sarcasm tag.

That's because I wasn't being sarcastic and if you would have paid attention I said honest question. I don't use windows phone but I used once Samsung Galaxy phone which really was stuck on one version of operating system called gingerbread or something. It was useless to go forward with updates, never mind backwards that I never thought to anyway, since the common sense would tell you the updated version are on must cases superior to the former. Not many people have thoughts of going backwards.

That's just amazing. I expect it to hit 90% in the coming weeks.

As long as it does not go past 100%...

Seriously. Our household' iOS 7 adoption lags at 60%. My wife hates its look (and after having tested it on my iphone4) will not upgrade my son's 1st gen iPad does not support it. I guess those two cases cover most of those who have not upgraded.

Rgds,

Rgds,

Really? Show your wife 7.1, it may change her mind. It's made a difference.

So adoption numbers for iOS somehow imply or even really relate to how good it is?
No. It just means that new IOS devices are delivered with ios7 installed and lots of IOS devices have been sold.

Not really in the looks department (as far as appealing any more to someone who might not like the 7.0 look).

Your response makes as much sense as it made me believe you are replying to another message.

I was telling you that I am the exact counter-example to the part that was in yellow font and then you went and completely lost me in what you were trying to say...

Of course they have a choice. They can go with any of multiple versions/flavors of Android, Windows Mobile or BB10. What kind of moron would pay hundreds of dollars for a new phone if they don't like the UI?

The kind of moron who wants a smartphone or tablet, but doesn't like the GUI of Android, WinMobile or BB10 either and likes Apple products in general. And hopes that they will sooner or later come to their right mind again and let Ive just do hardware design which he is great in.

Must be nice to have $700+ to throw around on faith...

I'm a former iOS 7 user, back on iOS 6 and loving it. I've had every version of the iPhone since the original, and SHOULD have been on a 5S now, but am sticking to my 5 since I refuse to make the change to iOS 7 again.

Why do I say again? Because, being the Apple fanboy that I was, I made the switch to iOS 7 as soon as it became available. First day. And I hated it. I hated squinting at white screens to see skinny text. I really hated it the first time I had to use it outdoors to see an address I had typed into Notes, and found I just couldn't see it anymore. Light yellow type on a white background does not make for good readability in bright daylight. Realizing that I had to stop and read text on a screen to figure out what and where to press, rather then being able to do things on the fly as was so much easier with iOS 6. So much really poor design.

Then I got lucky. My battery started failing on my iPhone 5. Took it into the Apple store for a replacement, and the new one they gave me still had iOS 6 on it. I had actually bought a Nexus 4 in the interim, as I was so fed up with iOS 7. I ended up selling my Nexus, and continuing happily with my iPhone 5 and iOS 6.

With every upgrade to 7, I've gone to the Apple store and played with the new versions, but nothing compares to the clarity and ease of use of iOS 6. Seeing the two side by side really makes iOS 7 look bad. I used to play 2D flight simulators as a kid in the 80's, and was glad when we moved past that. I can't believe someone is trying to convince me that 80's quality graphics are somehow "modern". The emperors new clothes, indeed.

But now, I am screwed. I've dealt with the stupid red notification on my screen telling me to upgrade. I've had to work around a good chunk of my phones memory being eaten up by the idiotic iOS 7 upgrade they downloaded into it. But now that there is a serious security flaw (that Apple took way to long to fix), I have to decide whether to do the forced upgrade to 7.1, or go to a different phone. I've been an Apple fanboy for so long, that I can't imagine moving to a different platform, and as I own pretty well every other Apple creation (yes, I am typing this on my Macbook Pro, being sent to you through my Airport Express). But a Samsung Note 3 is starting to look pretty good to me now, even if I know that Android is not as smooth or as flawless in operation as iOS 6 was. I might even have a look at a Windows phone.

So count me proudly in the 13%. No iOS 7 for me.

Did you really switch over the yellow text of linked text in Notes? (Which was bad decision IMO, especially considering that it is not affected by the "Darken Colors" setting.) Everything else that you mentioned can be addressed through settings and using the OS for a week.

No. Not only one feature. But it was very annoying not being able to read an address while on the street, when the previous version made it very usable. Yes, I did use Notes a lot.

I used the OS for a month. Right when it came out. Not all of it could have been addressed then. More so is available now, but it still looks amateurish by comparison.

I'd have just gone with a different notes app. :)

What you call "amateurish", I call a simple difference in taste.

Objectively, you can't tell me that Find My Friends or Podcasts looks more amateurish on iOS 7 than iOS 6. :p

Yes I would. You are the only person I've ever seen claim to be on jb ios 7.1b4

Multiple more credible sources claim it doesn't work

I'm definitely on b4. It's spoofed to think it's on 7.0 however so it wouldn't expire. Beta 5 was the beta that fixed the jailbreak exploits.

Unfortunately, any "golden run" ends sooner or later.

I suggest trying Windows Phone or HTC's take on Android for more iOS 6-like speed and UI quality. Stock Android and especially TouchWiz are rougher.

Good hell are you on an iPad 1st gen or something? My Air never crashes/needs hard reboots and I'm on a jailbroken 7.1 beta 4

----------

That doesn't stop them from upgrading to iOS 7. Why would you want to downgrade anyway?

iPhone 4S, not jailbroken...

Thanks for the tips. Windows Phone 8.1 actually looks pretty impressive. I'll take a peak at HTC too.
