I'm a former iOS 7 user, back on iOS 6 and loving it. I've had every version of the iPhone since the original, and SHOULD have been on a 5S now, but am sticking to my 5 since I refuse to make the change to iOS 7 again.
Why do I say again? Because, being the Apple fanboy that I was, I made the switch to iOS 7 as soon as it became available. First day. And I hated it. I hated squinting at white screens to see skinny text. I really hated it the first time I had to use it outdoors to see an address I had typed into Notes, and found I just couldn't see it anymore. Light yellow type on a white background does
not make for good readability in bright daylight. Realizing that I had to stop and read text on a screen to figure out what and where to press, rather then being able to do things on the fly as was so much easier with iOS 6. So much really poor design.
Then I got lucky. My battery started failing on my iPhone 5. Took it into the Apple store for a replacement, and the new one they gave me still had iOS 6 on it. I had actually bought a Nexus 4 in the interim, as I was so fed up with iOS 7. I ended up selling my Nexus, and continuing happily with my iPhone 5 and iOS 6.
With every upgrade to 7, I've gone to the Apple store and played with the new versions, but nothing compares to the clarity and ease of use of iOS 6. Seeing the two side by side really makes iOS 7 look bad. I used to play 2D flight simulators as a kid in the 80's, and was glad when we moved past that. I can't believe someone is trying to convince me that 80's quality graphics are somehow "modern". The emperors new clothes, indeed.
But now, I am screwed. I've dealt with the stupid red notification on my screen telling me to upgrade. I've had to work around a good chunk of my phones memory being eaten up by the idiotic iOS 7 upgrade they downloaded into it. But now that there is a serious security flaw (that Apple took way to long to fix), I have to decide whether to do the forced upgrade to 7.1, or go to a different phone. I've been an Apple fanboy for so long, that I can't imagine moving to a different platform, and as I own pretty well every other Apple creation (yes, I am typing this on my Macbook Pro, being sent to you through my Airport Express). But a Samsung Note 3 is starting to look pretty good to me now, even if I know that Android is not as smooth or as flawless in operation as iOS 6 was. I might even have a look at a Windows phone.
So count me proudly in the 13%. No iOS 7 for me.
