iOS 7: All The Little Things! (Featuring iOS 7.1)

I think what's happening here is that some bands have an official band picture on iTunes. When that's the case, the music app uses that picture. Otherwise, it uses an album cover.

Personally, I'd like to be able to turn this feature off. I'd rather just see an album cover. A lot of these band pictures look alike.

In the web world it would not pass 508 Compliance. I'm not sure apps or operating systems have to follow the same guidelines.

That yellow is a very mystifying choice for a company that prides itself on accessibility. It was amusing how they highlighted the notes app in one of the WWDC presentations as an example of the new app key color feature. It looks just as bad blown up on a giant presentation screen as it does on a tiny phone.

At least in reminders, you can just not use the yellow color.

As a graphic designer, that would be a design choice I would sigh over and say "pretty, but not practical...moving on."
 
Can someone check something for me?

I have iOS 7 on my iPad. When looking in the Photos app, under the Albums tab, the Camera Roll shows the last photo taken. However, the other albums show the first photo in each album. Was it always like that or is that an annoying bug in iOS 7? Would it be better if they all showed the latest photo added to each album?
 
Camera app - couple small nitpicks

1. The indicator that you took a picture is now less obvious and easy to miss if you're not paying attention.

2. The different modes you slide to..you can only slide one at a time instead of an interface similar to the selection for alarms, where the movement is freeform until you stop it manually or decelerates to a stop, and it snaps into the closest mode. It feels inconsistent.
 
So something I noticed recently isn't exactly an ios 7 little thing but it's a little thing I noticed on the ios 7 page on apple.com. They added battery percentage to their stock photos.

Swiping right in a message thread takes you back to the main message page. You have to be really close to the left edge of the screen for it to work, though.
 
Not sure if it has been reported yet (it's not in the first post's list) but you can now dismiss banner notifications by swiping them up. Finally! #
 
This is really little, but caps lock stays on between messages for me and never did before.

I fine the new caps lock/one time shift extremely unintuitive. Caps and shift are essentially the same it's very hard to distinguish them. The only difference is that caps fills the arrow with white while shift doesn't but it still gets outlined terrible design IMO.

Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage

Been there since ios 5 i think

The poster you quotes is referring to the fact that photos of the iPhone on apples website showed the iPhone with the battery percentage not showing. In these iOS 7 shots, they ARE displaying the battery percentage.

I was wondering why the change as well.
 
Calendar Repeat options?

Can someone tell me if in the Calendar App they've added any more options in the "Repeat" settings? And hopefully a "Custom" option? I find the choices they currently have very limiting. For instance, I need to set repeating events for every 3 days, and for every 6 months. There is no way to currently do that other than manually.

every day, week, 2 weeks, month, year.

Actionable notifications

Hey guys
Sorry if this has been posted before but did anyone notice:

I just set a reminder based on time and realised that I could dismiss it (mark as done) right from a nice looking button in the notification centre and it gets automatically dismissed both from there and the reminders app.

Wish they would implement this OS wide soon at least for native apps?

This is what I was referring to. I know battery percentage has been available for a while but if you check out ios 6's page on apple you'll notice they don't show the percentage while on ios 7 they do now.
 
There isn't much talk about the contacts app in ios 7 that i can see... Can someone tell me if the contacts app still uses that checkmark system to navigate between groups? Can you add groups in ios yet?

It's essentially the same for groups. You can't add groups :(

Yeah, the soft/caps key is awful. I keep getting it wrong and it pisses me off. That's as a long time iOS user too.
