I'm confused. How does this work? Wouldn't swiping down bring up the Notification Center?

Swipe from top of screen down brings notification center.
Swipe from middle of screen down brings search bar.

There's no activation here because it's the same as an update.

I'm having the same issue. My device is registered but it's not activating.

How is that possible? People before were denied installation because they didn't register their UDID.

Long time lurker and some of you guys are pretty helpful with info so just putting it out there....

NO UDID registered and the same shift+click, Restore/Update method from iOS6 works.

You should first test shift click update!

This blows my mind. Took my iPhone over to my Windows PC and did the shift + update rather than the Mac equivalent and it went right through. No bitching at me about UDID not being registered.

So the method does work. And something on my Mac with iTunes may be fubarred.

I have no success doing it using Xcode as I get activation issues; trying the iTunes method now...will let you know shortly if it works.
